From what I understand that thing goes under more revisions than... I don't know what!

Serapha said:Hello Doc,
The great thing about the Bible is that there are manuscripts to draw from for accuracy. As more manuscripts are found of Greek/Hebrew texts, even those that are not the biblical text, then we can learn even more about the true meaning of words from ancient times.
By reading the every-day letters we can learn the every day meaning of Paul's letters... by reading the tax receipts, the laws, etc., we can learn even more about Jewish laws and customs in the first century and earlier.
Isn't that great?

So you think that the Bible has never had any changes made to it? What about the literally thousands of different translations? And as Jenda said pretty much all of the changes were puncuation, and some changes were to make the wording make a little bit more sense to us, since we do not speak the same language as the Prophets of the Book of Mormon. You might notice that whenever critics of our Church claim the Book of Mormon has undergone thousands of changes, they never specify what kind of changes.Mea Culpa said:LOL! The Book of Mormon. Those "plain and Precious missing parts" are gramatical and punctual errors.daneel said:The lds never specify those "plain and precious" missing parts either.

To say that not one person that has ever translated the Bible into one of its many translations never once made an error is streching it very far. For to err is to be human. Its simple, if you are a human, you will make a mistake. You can check out the "Dialogue of Justin" for a specific example that claims that parts were removed from scripture.daneel said:I should have said, "The lds never explain what those plain and precious parts that are missing from the Bible."

Do you understand Jesus didn't like the idea of a factioned religion?Fit4Christ said:What do you have to be in order to accept Jesus???
When you accept Jesus, you become Christian and go to the Christian room to play. When you accept things beyond Christ, then you go to the Unorthodox Room.

Not all of them. Some of them change the whole meaning of the passage.Apex said:Those "plain and Precious missing parts" are gramatical and punctual errors.
And that would be great if "living a good life" were all it was about. We are talking about a perfect holy God here. Our best efforts amount to a hill of poop compared to Him. That is why we must have Jesus, who was perfect because He is God and payed for the sins. Without Him, our meager good works are still just awash in the sea of nothing.Chrono Traveler said:And what is through him? I feel like I would rather live by the teachings than just say some silly prayer every night. I feel if you live by his teachings, that is truly accepting him. You don't have to be Christian to live a good life..
Nope, your right, but you do have to accept Jesus to be a Christian.Chrono Traveler said:You don't have to be Christian to accept Jesus either....
