Actually since the last financial crisis more illegal immigrants have left the US than arrived. You can find the data on the Cato institute’s site. Not sustainable as in those people aren’t going anywhere, so you either accept a humanitarian crisis as ‘oh well what can you do’ or start processing claims, and you suddenly have thousands, which is happening now. Simple minded solutions don’t work for very long.

Then why do estimates of their numbers increase instead of drop?

The low end estimate is 11-12 million with the high end being double that.

Granted....these are hard numbers to be certain about. For some reason, Democrats don't want to know their numbers during a census. We can speculate on why if you want....

None of your hypotheticals seem to have anything to do with your original question, which was do more people emigrate to the US legally than the 100,00 illegally caught crossing the border in February.

To which the answer appears to most definitely be a yes. Somewhere north of 1.8 million people legally become emigrees just via permanent residency and naturalisations. This doesn't count other intakes, such as refugees, asylum seekers and special visa recipients.

The 10 year average is notably lower, at about 1.2 million emigrees per year. Based on that, the flows are level pegged- but that ignores the ~300-400,000 deportations and the hundreds of thousands of 'returns' (people detained at/near the border and put back across it) per year.

Oh, and birthright citizens aren't naturalisations. They're automatically citizens. They CAN sponsor their parents for citizenship- but not until they're 21. The process is also a long one, averaging more than 10 years, and is unsuccessful in the majority of cases.

Do you actually think the plan of someone who illegally immigrated, then had and raised a kid or kids to 21 and then spent 10 plus years on a longshot bid for citizenship - risking deportation through the process- is to wait 30 plus years so they apply for benefits? Really? That's what you think their motivation is?

To become a citizen, you must pass a Constitution test

What do you want them to assimilate to? My understanding of American culture is that there is no one culture, rather it's an amalgamation of many cultures that interact with one another. The thing that assimilate to is a society that celebrates its differences and who they contribute to the whole. The idea that people need to submit and assimilate to the white majority went out the window as racial discrimination has been the practice for the majority of American history. As long as people follow the US Constitution, the notion that people need to change to your definition of American is essential an un-American attitude.

Demanding people follow the white majority and/or demonizing those who do not adhere to the white majority is white supremacy in a nutshell.

The US Constitution is not absolute, it was never intended to be. That's why there is a Bill of Rights and the ability to change the document through ratification of amendments. That's just basic US history.

White supremacy != ethnic culture. In fact, there is no such thing as white culture because "white" is not an ethnicity. If you're equating white with European, then it would be incorrect to classify it as such because there are almost 100 ethnicities in Europe alone. Celebrating those ethnic groups and their cultural traditions is not racist at all. White, on the other hand, is a social definition to describe people, and is only roughly based on skin color. I say roughly because who is considered white has changed repeatedly throughout history to the point that calling white an ethnic group or culture seems laughable.

Ignoring European ethnic groups, the only use of white in the United States has been to promote racist policies, so if there was a claim of white culture, I don't see how you can divorce it from white supremacy. This is in stark contrast to say looking at someone's British or French heritage, which is not defined by whiteness. No, it is defined by language, food, cultural traditions, ethnic groups, etc. No one should denigrate those things, but white supremacy was created expressly to do that.

What makes the United States a great country is celebrating the cultural traditions of people from Europe, but also celebrating the traditions of people from Latin America, Africa, and Asia.
