Biden added that the country also needs to "strengthen background checks; enact safe storage and red flag laws; repeal the immunity, that protect gun manufacturers from liability; address the mental health crisis, deepening the trauma of gun violence."

Though Biden insisted, "I want to be very clear – this is not about taking away anyone's guns. It is not about vilifying gun owners." Elsewhere in the speech, the commander-in-chief voiced his opinion again that the Second Amendment is "not absolute."

Wonder what he thinks a 'ban' entails if not taking away something that people already have.......

I agree with biden that 18 year olds are probably not to be trusted with a gun . Or a vote.

Or being eligible to be drafted? That is, after all, what brought about the 18yo vote. And I don't necessarily disagree with you on the vote. At 18 I was throwing hand grenades, firing machine guns and shooting light anti-tank weapons. If my country told me I wasn't responsible enough to buy/own a gun I think I would have had problems with my previous choice.

Currently this measure was found unconstitutional by the 9th Circuit:

In a 2-1 ruling, a panel of the San Francisco-based 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals said Wednesday the law violates the 2nd Amendment right to bear arms and a San Diego judge should have blocked what it called “an almost total ban on semi-automatic centerfire rifles” for young adults.

Since that may not be possible, another suggestion that has been raised is to unseal violent offenses by minors so that the background checks are more effective.

At 14yo I took a hunter safety course, about 10-12 weeks @ 1.5hr/wk (Virginia, MN 1968) and was allowed to carry and hunt on my own without adult supervision..... so maybe let's not go down the 'extensive training and constant supervision' discussion, OK?.....

Did twitter put up a fact check on the "not absolute"? He has had multiple fact checkers show it is false. I wonder if he will be censored for disinformation?
