Still no specific passage. Ok don't worry about it.Why can't I quote them?
Read 1st and 2nd Corinthians, Galatians, Hebrews, Ephesians, 1 John and 2 John, 1 Peter and 2 Peter,
if you want them.
Like I said, "clothed in Scripture", lots of Scripture , all in harmony with no contradiction.
Everyone who has read through the Bible has seen them all. (or read them all, perhaps)
You should look your best. Remembering that this is a marriage ceremony to the Lamb of God. There are scriptures where we get thrown out into darkness for not being dressed appropriately Matthew 22:11-13
And although the scripture is referring to other aspects of religion, it clearly spells out something regarding dress code.
Do you agree with God's Word all the time though -I disagree that they could wear their best if possible, but it is not my church so I try not to judge them.
Rather, I gave you a lot of specific passages, all in context : 1st and 2nd Corinthians, Galatians, Hebrews, Ephesians, 1 John and 2 John, 1 Peter and 2 Peter,Still no specific passage. Ok don't worry about it.
Well, it is not about ourselves but about God. Don't take it personal, if you think what you wear is the best you can give, that is fine.I don't see anywhere in the bible where it says we aren't free to wear what we want. Why are we not free to wear what we want. What would you wear if you wore what you wanted? I wear what I want and it's usually something pretty and feminine and modest. And I would wear the same clothes on a Sunday as any other day. I don't understand why wearing what we want is not acceptable.
She never posted anything indicating it would be the best she could give. Did she?Well, it is not about ourselves but about God. Don't take it personal, if you think what you wear is the best you can give, that is fine.

Business formal at the very least.
It takes very little time to prepare that outfit and make the effort to present ourselves well, so why not?
We make more effort than that for an interview in the company of humans so why would you dress casually in the company of god?
What exactly do you mean by communicate disrespect? Would basketball shorts and a t shirt be disrespectful? If so why is it disrespectful? Just curious. Thanks
If people worry what to wear for heathen kings and presidents, then they should wear their best for the King of the Universe.
Is this more of a individual thing or do you think anybody who wears ripped jeans to church is communicating they don’t take it seriously? And yeah it’s definitely possible that people may think different or bad of an individual who chooses not to follow the societal standards but should that really matter in the context of how we relate to God? Do you think God is offended by the people who show up in ripped jeans? If so I’m just curious as to why? Do you only think that because of societies standards?I guess it depends what you mean by business formal.
I would think it silly, for example, to insist that women should be in heels, which would probably be considered necessary for "business formal."
I think the respect/disrespect thing is entirely context dependent, so there can't be hard and fast rules for every context. But if - for example - in my context, I turned up to church in ripped jeans and so on, that would say clearly to the other people there, "I don't take this seriously and I don't respect it." So if I were to wear jeans, they'd be whole and clean and neat. (That's talking about if I were in the pew. For "up the front" there's a whole different calculus, and let's just say I'm really grateful to be in a tradition which makes that a lot easier by putting its ministers in robes).
And no, as a general comment, I don't think it's enough to just choose to wear "what we want." What we wear has an affect on others and communicates all sorts of messages in our social context, and all of that ought to be taken into account when choosing what we wear.

Many Christians are uncomfortable with wealth.
I'm actually not made of money so it's also financially a pressure for me to keep up with their looks.
Most ordinary men don't even own suits these days. Men in suits are usually only to be found in business or at the wealthier end of society.
I make sure I wear my Sunday underwear and socks because the are holy.I like to wear my best collar when i go to church.
Why do you have to do that? Why can’t you be the person you are here? Why can’t you bring the smile and helpful advice you share in this space?
Off-line (i.e. in real life) people see my looks before they get to know me, befriend me, and hear my advice. Looks can be an obstacle some social situations.
Why would you question anything anyone else wears if you dont want your attire to be questioned. You want to be free to wear what you want, yet you are looking down on the one who may wear something loose....as if it is known to you the dresscode of one who loves Jesus. You cant have it both ways.... There is either an acceptable way to dress in church or there isnt.Just because people are free to wear what they want, why do you suppose it would have to be loose or lascivious? Why would anybody who is in love with Jesus actually want to wear stuff like that?
