I have heard many opinions on predestination. Also debates for and against. I have read many scriptures on this and still I am not clear on the subject. Does anyone have something to help me decide which is true???

God is all knowing, he knows the begining and the end so I would say we are probably predestinedFollower of Christ too said:I have heard many opinions on predestination. Also debates for and against. I went back and found the thread. It still leaves questions in my mind...Actually I am looking for answers not debate. I have always believed in freewill but as I examine the scriptures regarding foreknew and foreordained I just can't tie it in with freewill. I believe that every word of God is true, so if I don't understand something then I've missed something.ablikespaintball said:didn't we have a debate about this subject?? O well.
But does God already know who is going to follow Him??Heinrich said:I don't have the answer, but...
I recieved a prophecy over my life. Now this is all very nice, but I can still reject it and then it won't come to pass.
The way I maybe see it is that we have freewill to choose.... but God does have a path for us to walk if we choose so. And in that path we are predestined so to speak.
So if you recieve prophecy or dream or vision or something then it doesn't mean it had already happen, it's just God's way of telling you what plans he have for you if you follow him.

What you say has always sounded good to me, until recently when asked about scripture that used words like 'foreknew'. I have been most of the day digging and I hope the next time I am asked about this I will be able to give a clear and concise answer. I know in my heart we have freewill because God did not design robots..So, I gotta get back to my study. God Blesscling2thelamb said:I agree with Heinrich for the most part. I believe He has that perfect path for us, but we don't always follow it. So I guess there are parts of our lives where we can say He predestined it. But there are also things that we do that He didn't. I do believe He knows past, present, and future. Which is why He attempts to prompt us by the Holy Spirit to keep us on the path He laid out for us. We do miss that sometimes but if we ask Him and seek His face on every issue, He will get us back on track. I have never really discussed this with anyone, this has always just been the way that appeals to my heart and what I know of God's ways. I would love to hear your comments!
God's power is so great that we can barely imagine it. He sees the beginning to the end at the same moment because of His omniscience and the fact that He stands outside of time in eternity. Without time, past and future appear to Him as now. He knew us before we are born and certainly already knows who will receive and reject Him. He then uses this power over evil to make it work ALL things for good to those that love Him and are called according to His purpose (Rom. 8:28). The scripture says that althouygh we may cast the dice, God determines the outcome (Prov.16:33). We should be greatly comforted by this, as I know that many worry about God doing injustice which is impossible. This is power that we may not ever fully understand, but it is important to be able to give an answer to unbelievers. God certainly has the right to destroy man because of His sovereignty, but He did have wonderful things in mind when He put man in a garden with a serpent. The contrast of good and evil requires the dark colour of evil in order that the light may be know in its full glory and definition, which is why God suffers the vessels of destruction (Rom.9:22). He knows who they are and then uses them to create Agape love and character in His chosen bride.Follower of Christ too said:I have heard many opinions on predestination. Also debates for and against.
