  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Apparantly (per the news at noon on tv) she was from mexico and came to TX for treatment and the family has not yet been infected.
So even though there are cases emerging, some are the regular flu, all cases are mild with no deaths so far.

Remaining vigilant in prayer for all who are/will be affected

A close friend passed away on Monday. She was a Christian, so we're thankful that she is now with the Lord, but would you please pray for her family, who are deeply bereaved . Her father is in his nineties and not a Christian; would you pray for his salvation too please. Her (Christian) husband, Steve, has had tremendous stress, over the last few months, on another issue as well as his wife's illness. Please pray that he will lean on the Lord, and adjust over the coming months to his change in circumstances and allow himself to grieve. His children, especially the youngest, are devastated. Please pray for them too. Thank you.

I've not been online for a few days, firstly because of computer issues, and then shock at my friend's passing. I'll try and catch up with prayer requests. :)

Sue, my prayers are with and with the family of your friend.

Just wanted to let you all know that my colleague's sons who have swine flu are recovering nicely and feeling much better. Their school is still closed.

Praying for Steve and family That the stress of breavement will draw them closer to the Lord and not drive a wedge between them and the God of all comfort.

We have about 11 cases of the flu here all are mild so far. I think it is partly the health agencies being over cautious and of course the need of media to have a big story that we are hearing about it 24/7. I heard that regular flu here in the height of the flu season is much more of a problem. However I am praying for all who have been infected and praying the virus will die out. Jan

Dear Lord, our hearts go out to this couple
and we beseech you to support them in their grief
Help them, not to blame themselves
for, what is, to them the greatest of trajedies
Lord, we do so often, not-understand, your will in these matters
show them, that those, whom you have made in the womb
are 'perfect' unto you and that they, are-'special'
and are now, with you forever
amen

I too, have 'lost' two children [a son and a daughter]
The void, they leave behind them, is, very-difficult to fill
and self-reproach, can make this grief
one of the steepest hills to descend from
That the parents also do not have Jesus walking beside them
is also a part of this tragedy
let us pray.. that He is able to bring them into His flock
:prayer:

Please join me in praying for a young woman who lost her twin babies in the fifth month of pregnancy yesterday. (This was after 2 previous micscarriages also.) This couple also does not know the Lord. So some prayers in that direction would also be in order.:groupray:
We lost our first grandson when our daughter was 5 months along (2001), so the the heartache and trials of faith are not unfamiliar to us. They will be in my prayers :crossrc:

Asking for prayers for baby Charlie, my friend Denise's grandson, who was born yesterday and is having breathing problems. Denise specifically asked for all of our prayers and I assured her the Golden Eagles would be praying for Charlie.

Also prayers for my friend Barbara. Her condition has worsened and she has stopped the chemotherapy as it was not helping. Especially asking for prayers to stop the pain that she is in.

"For the Promise is unto you,
and TO YOUR CHILDREN,
and to all that are afar off,
even as many as the LORD our God shall call" (Acts 2:39)

Luke 2:10
But the angel said to them,
"Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of great joy
which will be for all the people;
