  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

"aint?" "screwed?" LOL....is this from the guy that says "words matter!"?? :p
Rus, I'm thrilled to hear that it's not imminently life-threatening. I'm with Meghan, though, don't relax about this and think you're out of the clear. Get that BP dooooowwwwwn!

I think with any problem, you need to consult the source. What is causing this? Diet? Exercise or lack thereof? Environment? Stress? Work? Family? Meds? What? In America, people just medicate. They never try to make modifications, they just medicate. Why should I watch my cholesterol since I can take Lipitor? LOL...that's the sentiment. My dad is that way! LOL....Along the lines of what Meghan said, I don't like the sounds of Angiopathy one bit! Hopefully it's a condition you can improve.

I didn't realize you had issues with both of your sons, Rus? At least you're making some headway with one of them! That's good.

best of luck. you being in my prayers is already a given....:crosseo:

The diagnosis I got is angiopathy - which my wife originally read as "anglopathy" - extremely humorous for an American in Russia. :p

Ain't good, but it ain't a death sentence. Might be other stuff lurking there; I have a feeling that my vocal objections to their massive overcharging resulted in no further testing and a vague and general diagnosis - which doesn't explain the periodic numbness in my arm - but the extensive cardio-vascular testing denies any imminent threat of stroke or heart attack. The second visit and prescribed medicines only set me back a couple of hundred dollars.

Anyway, if some of you could keep me and my family on a back-burner in prayer, it'd be appreciated. If I'm knocked out of the picture, even if only by incapacitation, my family and in-laws (and other people and things I'm holding up) are screwed.

I feel like Harry Potter in the final film. "Going on" would be really cool for me, but I can't leave my loved ones in a mess.

(On a total side note, my relations with my younger son (Andy) are better than I could have ever dreamed. If only they were so with my older son...)

Gosh, I hope you are able to get some more specific information - the Wikipedia entry is not all that reassuring. Is there a less expensive place you could go for help/treatment?

Yes. I'll go back one more time for a follow-up, and after that, I plan to take the testing results and everything to my local clinic. And yeah, some things are scary. But I'm told it's totally controllable, my case is not serious or advanced. I appear to have caught it more or less "in time".

While there are things still to be nervous and jerky about, my evening BP hit all-time lows: 140/105 in one arm, 132/96 in the "bad" arm - the one that goes numb some times.

Great!

I suppose the arm could be something totally different. Or even caused by stress which being worried about the other thing would make worse.

Doesn't sound very good, as you said. :( I hope the medications help. I assume if they're giving you meds, that's how this can be treated?

Well, still on medications. Running 130-140/95-105 on the average.

A new thing is pains down UNDER the chest, the upper gut, really, more on the left side that arise when I do strenuous walking. Happened yesterday marching to work, and today when I tried to do my 2-mile+ walk. Wound up cutting it short.

The Eeyore in me imagines the worst. I read "The Death of Ivan Ilyich" by Tolstoy some years ago, and it made a real impression on me; now I feel like the title character.

Anyway, I appreciate continued prayers from those of you who feel you can.

I was thrilled that I was able to do e 2-mile walk without a hitch.

But then, walking to work, the pain started up again. I think I might have to go into the clinic tomorrow if this keeps up. I'm supposed to go to Clinique Expensivo on Tuesday for a follow-up;and hoping I can hold out until then. But stuff like this makes me REALLY nervous.

I apologize for the me-me-me tone here. Just really worrying, and I know I shouldn't.

Well, when you not only have your health, but also $$$ concerns, and living in a foreign country all on your plate, I think you have a right to get a touch me-me-me here and there! :p

It's understandable, Rus. No worries.

Hi, TBO.
Well, with meds my BP seems mostly good. Last night I could feel a fast pulse in the morning, a strong one, in my neck, but my BP was good. No pain in particular now, but I've given up trying to run for the time being. Just speed-walking. I listen to AFR podcasts all the time.

I'm trying to get a new brain scan locally on my insurance to submit to the doctor so as to not have to fork over 10K rubles ($340) at the "Clinique Expensivo". For now, just trying to stay alive and healthy. Lent is going to ratchet up my diet to a new level of dieting; the real struggle, though, is to keep it from being just that. I've already figured out that fighting laziness and anger at unpleasant surprises, and making time for God are the big things for me this year. And I'm looking at extending the (moderate) changes to permanent ones, not just something I do for a Lent, just like my lifestyle changes.

@Rus

Normal news is alredy good news. 8-9 and 11th of march were hard days for health due wheather - my relatives of ur ages had troubles - head ach, problems with pressure and heart. I felt terrible on 11th. May it caused your fast heart beat.

Also, take in mind my advice about ДиаДÐ[bless and do not curse]НС-Кардио: 5600 руб. - Продукция - Аппараты - Специализированные - Корпорация «ДÐ[bless and do not curse]НАС МС» - i use it regular.
Thanks!
I'll ask my doctors about such a device, it's obviously more than just a monitor.

If you're in or around Moscow, PM me! Maybe someday we could meet!
