• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Obviously I won't recommend anything to anyone because I don't have medical training, but the best legal thing that helped me through WD was loperamide. It's not natural, but it's OTC. Also, Kava root powder helped a lot. It's natural and legal. The taste is HORRIBLE though. I mean, you have never drank anything as vile as Kava root. But it did help my muscle pains and anxiety.

Hi Daniel, my new friend! :) How are you doing in recovery? W opiates, the brain chemicals get all screwed up and we have problems w endorphins or whatever creates pleasant feelings. This is a big reason ppl relapse, because of feeling depressed, tired, lousy. But Id rather suffer that than continue using. I feel drugs are sinful and put up a wall between us and the Lord.

I will research your recommendations. Suboxone is wonderful short use, but the longterm affects concern me very much so. I use them sporadically to maintain sobriety. It is a great medicine to stabalize ya, so it has its benefits. God Bless You, Brother!

Phenibut helped me a little. Just don't get carried away and take massive amounts of it because you might get a hangover from the very thing you are trying to get relief with. You might want to use more than the standard serving because of the severity of the problems associated with withdraw but just don't go crazy. Phenibut is basically an altered form of GABA that actually crosses into the brain well unlike GABA.

L Dopa or Mucuna Puriens (sp?) can help increase depleted dopamine levels.

like the above poster noted though loporamide is the way to go. I used about 10 or more of them at once I believe (it was about 10 years ago can't remember exactly). My stomach was so used to actual opiates that it didn't constipate me at all either. Strangely it seemed to help with other withdraw problems other than stomach ones too. I would recommend starting much lower and seeing how it works first though you definitely do not want to get constipated now.

I heard amino acids and vitamins may help.
Blood sugar can get messed up, so proteins help stabilize.

Related, systemic candidiasis -- yeast that spreads through the body -- can elevate when there are more sugars than needed, which can happen especially with alcohol or random eating.

Candida. Also called Systemic Candidiasis, Candida Albicans, and Monilla.

Picture making bread -- the yeast multiplies and expands the bread as it releases carbon dioxide. Less oxygen, more weariness. More bloated feeling. Body taken over by an unnecessary fungus.

It sounds simplistic, but might help.
