  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The cratered south polar area of Saturn's moon Rhea looking toward the moon Dione and Saturn's rings in the distance. Dione's "wispy" terrain can be seen on the trailing hemisphere of that moon. Taken by the Cassini Probe:

NGC 7635 (Sharpless 162, or Caldwell 11) (AKA Bubble Nebula)is a HII emission nebula in Cassiopeia close to the open cluster Messier 52.
The "bubble" is created by the stellar wind from a massive hot young central star SAO 20575 of about 44 solar masses. (Credit and Source: Giuseppe Donatiello/RADEC)

Europa and Jupiter. Image taken by the Hubble Space Telescope in 2020. Some scientists speculate there may be a liquid water ocean under Europa's icy surface that may hold life (and if so it is likely just microbial life).

Flowers for my mom yesterday. The vase was a gift when I was in Japan.

Flowers for my cousin's wife who has had medical issues. They will meet me today to help bring some closure with my aunt that had a stroke 5 years ago in the nursing home. Her husband, my uncle, passed away last year.

Dog sitting all my parents were on vacation in Florida last week after the 13.1 event. She was so exhausting because of her age and ornryness. She can't seem to hold the bathroom inside the house and seems to not want to use the bathroom outside. But I made sure to take her for a walk no matter how much she bit me when I picked her up after work. She ended up enjoying the walks.

A sunset at a nearby lake before I took a media break.

13.1 tree Town tussle event in Ann Arbor. It rained the whole time and I got off course but backtracked and kind of made my own course of 15.5 miles.

I got pretty dirty from all the mud and single rail tracks. Lots of inclines.

Getting off course in Ann Arbor gave me a chance to stop and take pictures. My phone got drenched and rain from taking it out to look at the map but it survived.

On one of my training runs of 11 miles before the event, I got permission from a world-famous Marathon runner who has written various books on training in his 70s, to get a drink of his water. He said the water will shave a minute off your marathon time guaranteed.:D
