  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Pornography

I was flipping around on YouTube and I found this

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NidUG88wY4o&feature=RecentlyWatched&page=1&t=t&f=b

Im curious if people think that pornography in general (That is made with of-age people and doesnt involve anything against anyone's will or hurt anyone) is a positive, negative, or neutral effect in the world.

Keep in mind pornography (in one form or another) has been around since humanity was able to draw or carve stone

On a side note, hearing George Putnam say "lesbian implications" was enough to make Kraft Macaroni and Cheese sauce come out my nose

Pornography is only a big deal in America because an obnoxious portion of the population squeals like children whenever they see naughty parts. It's quite frankly ridiculous.

One of my favorites is when people were protesting Janet Jackson's boob flash at the Superbowl... They were all saying "Think of the children!"

Wait...what are breasts for again?

Speaking for myself based on my own personal, nearly lifelong experience with pornography, I'd say that it is a negative. Looking back I can say that this was even true before I was a Christian, so my negative experience can't really be dismissed as being the result of being told that it's bad by my Church.

I think porn and its users are mostly neutral, with occasional negativity. Most things have negative sides. There are several TV series available that document pornography being made, from the viewpoint of actors, producers, directors. Several things I noticed:

Women pressured to perform sex acts they initially did not want to do, to the point of tears, and sometimes doing them because they feared their age relative to younger, newer actors might put them out of work unless they complied.

Very young women getting cosmetic surgury, usually breast implants, in order to conform to what they saw as industry standards.

Some very calloused older men manipulating the emotions of very young women - and some young men.

Some of the above negative things have parallels in other industries, usually without the sex: I could cite the movie industry and fashion industry.

I confess I don't understand how someone could become obsessed with watching porn, to the point of calling themselves addicted. It's a way to waste time, possibly pleasurably, like watching five hours of TV a day, which many do.

Last night I dreamed I engaged in a sex act in an elevator involving a trampoline, a vat of baked beans, Jack La Lane, a small sheep in a bustier, a box of chocolate donuts with sprinkles, and a package of Oscar Mayer wieners - then suddenly I was on a bullet train going into a tunnel – then, BAMM, I was in a prison cell hanging upside down on a wall in chains, and a laughing prison guard was approaching me with a HUGE Cuban cigar – then, mercifully I woke up, to discover my bed sheets were soaked in seven different bodily exudates.

Does this mean I’m a pervert?

The only negative thing I've experienced with porn is that I have yet to find something that really gets me going. ^_^

And yet I still watch it...

It's just like how you flip through the channels on TV and there's absolutely nothing on, but you're watching it anyway. :p

Steezie,

I had written in your other threads about pornography and you may remember that I have said it is wrong. Yes, it has been around for centuries but that is a ridiculous argument to make in favor of pornography.

I really believe the world would be better off without it...my only question is: What will mankind be missing if pornography did not exist?

Like I said in another thread, I love the fact that my boyfriend is not gawking at naked women on the computer..etc. I love the fact that he is more loyal to me in the sense of what he chooses to see or watch. And I think every relationship can benefit from this type of loyalty, love, and commitment. Why would I want my future husband to be orgasming over other women? Does this make sense to anyone???

If my bf wants to watch porn, I really don't care. To me, it doesn't mean that he loves me any less. I don't feel like there's competition between me and a porn star.

I can't say that it's true for everyone, but I can say that for myself, I don't lust after the actors in pornography. A lot of the time I don't even find them attractive. What I find erotic are the acts, so that's what I pay attention to; not the people doing them. And I have a pretty active imagination, to say the least, so if I'm intrigued by an act I've certainly got my own porno playing in my head, which doesn't involve those other people at all.

It isnt, it means that some fundamental part of us as human beings enjoys the creation of images that involve sexual acts.

I really believe the world would be better off without it...my only question is: What will mankind be missing if pornography did not exist?
What would mankind be missing if art did not exist? Its not something that has a concrete value, but it helps enrich and diversify living on Earth, it makes it more interesting.

Also as a side note, I learned more about the human body from porn than any other place. When I was very young I thought the human body looked like mine, like a pre-teen young boy. When I started looking at pornography, I learned that the human body has shape, form, lines, definition, and actual beauty.

Like I said in another thread, I love the fact that my boyfriend is not gawking at naked women on the computer..etc. I love the fact that he is more loyal to me in the sense of what he chooses to see or watch. Your boyfriend is not made of stone. I dont want to be offensive, but I can guarantee you he looks at other women as I know that you look at other men.

Its our natural instinct. I have a fiancee of over a year and I look at other women, she looks at other men and women. I dont care, she knows I look, I know she looks. But we know that we both love each other and that someone walking down the street who's sexually attractive will be quickly forgotten after they pass but that my fiancee will be with me forever.

Yup, I agree here~ ...there is no denying the concept of attraction. However, I have never said my boyfriend will not find other women attractive. What I was saying is that he is not masturbating to the image of another woman.

Gotta love it when anti-porn crusaders pore over hundreds of images of porn and include them in their crusading material.

"I'm just staring at this to get better acquainted with the enemy! I need to know what I'm dealing with. I just want to see how perverted and disgusting it all is, and I know my followers want to get better acquainted with it, too."
Clearly, this is the porn for people who want to be able to claim that they don't look at porn. They just look at tapes about porn.
Could they be any more transparent?
