And I wish that everyone would stop with the generalizations. If you're "addicted" to pornography, then you've got some bigger issues to deal with. (As MyJhongFist already pointed out, it's not really an "addiction," but oh, well. Just because one craves something doesn't make it an addiction. I crave ice cream sometimes, but am I addicted to it? Not by any stretch of the imagination.)

Again, if your spouse is constantly watching porn, there's something wrong, especially if he/she tries to hide it from you. Perhaps we can all agree that the porn would be a symptom of the problem and not the problem itself...?

I think many christians are against pornography and masturbation because of the guilt associated with knowing that their God is watching them and also he knows every thought......

Well Christians shouldn't be against it soley because of the reasons you suggested. The guilt and such is just a symptom. The source is of Satan, and Christians should know this. That is why alot are against such sexual temptations (hopefully). The rest of the world doesn't care simply because they don't have the holy spirit in them guiding them.

I think this is especially true of someone like Rising_suns who believes he is so special to God that he denies "pleasuring himself".

If you knew the love that you could experience from such a beautiful God, you wouldn't even consider masturbation a "pleasure". The pleasures of this world, the pleasures of the flesh, they don't even come close to the awesome love God can reveal to you. The closer you grow with Christ, the more you see sexual temptation as it is; evil. I get repulsed now even when I drive by a strip club. It hits me right at my heart. I'm no longer a part of this trap of society; I'm no longer distracted with such venues. I can now keep my focus on God much more than I could, and it's such a wonderfull blessing.

A topic i want to address is the lust, although not that it would matter for me anyway since i am not a christian and could care less if im lusting over anything...But (hey hazy i like it too)I personally enjoy watching women only vids, and my hubby and i joke around about me being a lesbian, and me wanting to hook up with a cute chick, but I really don't . I realized that what I am getting off on is not seeing the attractive women, but what is being done to them so to speak. maybe i am fantasizing it is me, i dunno. point is im not lusting after the chick. dont get me wrong, i dont wanna watch some 200 lber goin at it, but that isnt because i want to lust after the woman. Well when someone gives their heart to Christ, they are then empowered by the holy spirit, which needs to be nutured in order to be strengthened further. I can't speak for anyone in particular with regards to what you call, this "prude like behavior." But I do know that as you strengthen the holy spirit within you, the more you're able to be lead by it; the more you can "see" it guiding you in your life. It's God's gift to us; a gift that helps us see God's plan, how much He loves us, and discern right from wrong. As for me in particular, I don't think I am pure yet. Maybe one day, God willing.

Pete, I usually see that reaction in people who are scared to death of human sexuality.  "You're all sick, and depraved for even thinking about that nasty thing..."  etc..etc...

Unfortunately, Susan suffers from a superiority complex.  Though I like her, and have found common ground with her on more than a few occasions, I find that to be one of her flaws.  Sorry, Susan.  But from what I've seen, it's true. 

Let me make that clear, I am NOT trying to be insulting.  It's just an observation.

Everytime someone else does not hold the same moral standards, they are automatically judged as being "sick" or "depraved"   

It's very insulting and dripping with moral superiority.  Consider that constructive criticism.

i think it is sad that some people think that sex is all there is to pleasure. Im not interested in sex. Im 19 and not married i am very happy as i am and knowing God. I dont think that you need to be having lustful thoughts to have pleasure. As a christian u feel conviction wen u r close to God if u do things that r wrong. Sin is only pleasurable for a time and seperate us from God which is soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much better.
I dont think there is any need to even date anyone til u know that u r ready and i only want to be with the man im going to marry whoever that will be.
My life revolves around God not sex thats why i dont have a need for these things.

I spent many years addicted to porn. It nearly destroyed me and my family. I didn't think I was hurting anyone until God delivered me from the addiction and opened my eyes. It was effecting every aspect of my life and I didn't even know it. I think porn is wrong, but it is Gods judgement that you have to worry about.

I see nothing morally wrong with watching material which arouses sexual interest. Anything wrong comes along two lines for me: 1. Permitting children to watch/read sexually explicit material, unless an adult is trying to teach/supervise the child. 2. The generally poor quality of acting and style in pornos. Let's face it, pornos are really bad movies, generally. The only ones I've found which seemed real/fun in and of themselves, with or without the sex, was one British comedy and Candida Royalle's films.

The usual feminist "but it hurts women" nonsense isn't proven true by anything resembling objective scholarship, any more than the "it makes men into animals" argument by some moralists is.
