  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

It's like a huge wieght has been lifted from my shoulders and the clouds has cleared up in my eyes. I not only have the bible, but i have my own personal experiences, not to mention I've grown so much closer to Christ.

In other words, you believed something you were doing was bad. So when you stopped doing it, you felt better about yourself.

This kinda proves my point about "social mindsets" and porn.

An article on the sex lives on Bonobos. They engage in lots of promiscuous sexual behavior (including things some people would probably regard as "deviant" behavior -- like homosexuality).

And yet... they have no porn.

haha alright Pete, you've worn me down so that I no longer have the will to fight :)

I don't feel like arguing scientific method with ya. If you want more details on this guys research you should e-mail him. What he presented in his article was enough for me.

and now I'm going to act like a moderator.....

Let's cool down a little everyone. I don't think that there have been any personal attacks yet, but we are getting dangerously close.

ok mod hat off

Thanks for answering my question. I really was curious.

I wasn't defending your husband. I was trying to show you that people need sexual contact, and if that contact is refused by their spouses, they often turn to other outlets. I'm sorry if I offended you.

Rising_Suns, please, please, PLEASE go up and read my response about how pornography isn't used by everyone that way. I'm sorry if that's the way YOU used porn, but it's not that way for everyone.

I already read your response, and as I said, you are simply rationalizing it. Porn is evil, plain and simple.

I wish we all could just step back and realize that the way we perceive things is not always the way everyone else perceives them.

Well not everything is as subjective to me. I think God made it pretty clear when He gave us the one absolute truth; His word.

Perhaps you should ask yourself why God would've given you such a strong urge to procreate while insisting that you only indulge in such actions under extremely controlled conditions. I swear, you Christians make God seem more sadistic than any atheist ever could.

I'm sorry you feel so bitter against Christians. The truth is, growing with God is the most beautifull experience I've ever had. By listening to His word, He has blessed me beyond words. He has blessed me with such an inner peace, I can't even describe it. He's blessed me with patience, compassion, wisdom, and humility, among other things. How you can interpret this as some sadistic game is beyond me.

:sigh: How can I rationalize something that I don't see as being wrong?

I'm sorry you feel so bitter against Christians.

I don't. Both of my parents are Christians. Practically everyone I know is a Christian. If I felt so bitter about 90% of the American population, I'd be a pretty unhappy person. :) Mostly (and don't take offense at this, please), I just feel sorry for you guys.

Because it seems that way--arbitrary rules that go contrary to every natural impulse we have. It's a system set up to make people fail and to make them feel guilty for failing.

How do you know?  Have you experienced it?  Or have you just read articles by so called educated sources about it?

Once again, I do not approve of porn.  But I find no need to tell non Christians that they cannot view it, or any other form of entertainment for that matter.

I have so far seen no evidence that any entertainment causes aberrations in real life/day to day activities.

Ok, go with your impulses then. Be just like every other animal on earth. I believe though, that God has given us the ability to deny our impulses, and that is what separates us from animals.

Rather, I should have said it "illustrates" my point. Better?

No Pete. You can't draw any conclusion with my personal situation because you are not me. You don't know what is in my heart, and what I know to be true. I know God has blessed me for turning away from sexual temptation. It has nothing to do with society. In fact, I believe society encourages it more than it should. But you believe it discourages it too much. Interesting....

None taken. I feel sorry for us guys too. :)

that's a good question.  Consider, that statistically crusaders against porn are crusaders against all forms of erotica and sensuality.

I am so tired of Christians seeing sex as something 'dirty', then looking down on others who partake of such entertainment.

Then these self righteous individuals make statements that are broadly inclusive.  Like:

"People who look at porn are all perverts..."

"Anyone who looks at hentai are violent depraved individuals..."

"If someone enjoys hentai or porn then they are definitely terrible mates or parents..."

In reality there is NO WAY that they could know that such broad statements are true.  Such statements are totally unfounded and extremely judgemental.  It literally drips of the egotistical attitude that "they" are superior to "them".

In essence, there is absolutely no evidence that any entertainment causes any aberrant behavior in anyone who is not already mentally unhinged.

So you think we are far and above animals?  Are we not created by the same creator?

I am a Christian, born again in the blood of Christ.

I did not have the spirit of God until I prayed to Him and asked for it to be brought into my life.  As far as I have learned, we are not just born with it.

we had a sermon about this the other week at church. Our pastor was saying that people become addicted to porn and the images stay in their heads. sex wasnt meant to be sold but in marraige between one man and one woman. As Christian we need to be different set apart from the world or how will they know we are different. I dont think that you need to live in lust to have pleasure. The things of this world are only pleasurable for a time. The most amazing experience i have is knowing God and i dont want anything to seperate me from him.

I think people throw around the word 'addictive' too easily. Like people say "I was addicted to gambling" Sorry that's not addiction, to me. It's lack of willpower. They just couldn't muster the willpower to leave the roulette wheel, when in reality there is nothing keeping them there but their own feet.

When people get hooked on drugs, there is a chemical dependency that forces you to crave more.  That's addiction.

Any activity has the potential to be mentally habit forming. For instance, alot of people would consider me to be addicted to working out. However, it is not the addictive nature of weights and the heavy bag that keeps me coming back. It's not like a drug that makes you physically crave more.

When you do something long enough, it just becomes part of your daily routine.

Alright, I'll admit I was maybe a bit hasty in drawings conclusions about your personal situation. You're right, I don't know what is in your heart.

However, you did say it was like "a huge wieght has been lifted from my shoulders and the clouds has cleared up in my eyes" when you turned away from "sexual temptations".

So, where did this "weight" come from? Why were you feeling that way in the first place?

I love my wife but I did have a natural tendency in desire to ogle at porn though not in the video format.
But that is a male thing. Men are more inclined to be more visually turned on with sex and I have learned that most women are more emotionally involved. Porn has little emotional involvement and is just graphical exploitation of sex.
My wife doesn't like me doing it so I wish to abstain. Besides a picture doesn't do much for you except lie flat on paper (movies have fake over- the-top moaning) and I think of looking at porn as adultry so it has put me off a lot. My wife is my partner not a picture.

:sigh: I was watching previews for new releases today and they showed a nice looking couple sitting together talking about how thier relationship has really improved now. Well then it went on to show other inticing women and it was one of those pay per view things. It just makes me sick! Of course you start watching porn you develop the spirit of lust. Why do couples or shall I say Men need to watch others to get all turned on anyhow?

Porn is an addiciton because there are men that crave it. They don't have the will power to stop because they don't want to.  I used to smoke cigerettes and of course I craved it but I have quit with the strength of the Lord. I am a temple to the Lord. I should keep my temple holy. If fornification and adultery is a sin to God, which it is, then getting involved with pornography isn't keeping your temple holy is it?
