There is a major disconnect going on.
1) I don't agree with the pope at all. I agree with the Bible.
2) "open and affirming church" - That's what it's really all about isn't it? Finding affirmation for who you are from someone, somewhere. Lot of people; gay, straight and uncertain, want to be affirmed. I'll take it a step further and say we ALL want to be affirmed.
3) You've rejected the living God's love and mercy. Turned away from His grace. Always remember you rejected Him, not He you.

Note to the seekers here, who are honestly considering Christianity -
A lot of Christians don't behave the way this particular Christian has been acting. I'm sure he's an total embarrassment to other Christians. But I wanted to point out the fact that just because someone is a Christian, doesn't automatically mean they take the moral high road.
