But of course that is not what Christ Jesus says. In Revelation, Christ says that He still has the keys.

Maybe you should consider accepting the typology explanation about isaiah and matthew first then we can get to the part about revelation when you ready ;)

So, what have we learned?

Can you please rephrase the question?

Christ Jesus will give the keys, per Matthew. He still has the keys per Revelation. As such, they do not reside with anyone on earth.

How come? I am ready to do that now and show us how Roman Catholicism views that book compared to Protestants and Orthodox ehehe :p And where do the RCs see Peter or the Pope in Revelation?

The typology explanation you quoted between Isaiah and Matthew does not address the simple fact that Christ Jesus will give the keys, per Matthew. He still has the keys per Revelation. As such, they do not reside with anyone on earth.

With the truth of scripture in mind, you may want to reconsider the typology between Isaiah and Matthew with the facts laid out by Christ and see where it leads you.

Have you not read the scriptures, Heb. 7:27, that say, Who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people's: for this he did once, when he offered up himself.?

I'll let you in on a secret. He is no longer on the cross. He said it is finished. He rose on the third day. He is now seated with the Father.

Hebrews 8:8 "For faulting to-them He is saying 'behold, days coming is saying Lord and I shall-be-together-finishing/sun-telesw <4931> (5692) upon the house of Israel and upon the house of Judah a Covenant, New"

John 19:30 When then the Jesus had received/got the vinegar He said "It has been finished/tetelestai <5055> (5769)"! and reclining the head He gives-up the spirit.

Actually you are wrong. Jesus at no time in scripture gave keys to the other Apostles. However, you are correct that the other Apostles shared in it's authority.

One cannot bind (lock) or loose (unlock) without keys, so the rest of the apostles were given the keys.

If His death is not perpetual......then what did you baptize yourself into....limbo ? and
When St. Paul says "Death is at work in us....." Where does that "Death" come from ?, if Christ's death is not perpetual.

...so you take JESUS and cut Him in two !
You put His Death over there ...far away in history and you put
His "resurrection "on your chest and wear it like a medal of Honor !

if you read on in Romans 6: 5
"If we have been united with Him through a likeness to his death, so shall we be through a like resurrection."

Every whimp wants to be united to his resurrection, but only a few courageous want to be united to his death.

That shows you fail to grasp the very essence of Christianity.

If you are not functioning IN CHRIST'S DEATH....you will come up on the wrong side of His Resurrection.
(see John 5: 29)

May I suggest you fix that problem ...quick?

1Cr 2:2 For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.

Gal 2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

It's Christ we worship, not the Cross. Nobody salutes a flagpole when the flag is not flying! But when they see the flag on the pole, they venerate the flag, hand over heart, hat removed, in token of their respect for the country it represents. A cross without Christ on it is an empty flagpole.

Are you speaking of the 'now' contained within the timeline of human history, or God's eternal 'now'?

So, just to remind us of the conclusion:

Matthew quotes Christ Jesus saying He will give the keys. John in Revelation quotes Christ Jesus saying He still has the keys.

As such, they do not reside with anyone on earth.
Are they the same keys?

I haven't looked in a while, but I thought the keys Jesus gave Peter were the keys to the kingdom of heaven, and the keys Jesus is holding in Revelation are they keys to Hades.

Which would hardly seem like the same thing to me.

I would say that the same key that gets you out of the grave and condemnation, is the same key that get you into heaven.

I looked to see where key is used in the OT and saw it was used only 2 times. Could this be right?

Young) Judges 3:25 And they stay till confounded and lo! he is not opening the doors of the upper chamber, and they take the key and open and lo!, their lord is fallen to the earth--dead.

Isaiah 22:22 And I give key of house of David on shoulder-blade of him and he opens and none is locking and he locks and is no one opening.

Seeing as there is NO promise of a church infallibility in scripture, only a promise that Christs church will never perish...Those who believe in the sacredness of scripture should look at the comments about Romes vicar such as Unam Sanctum and these other things shown in my OP as extreme cases of blasphemy and adherence to this line of thinking extremely dangerous.
