The Orthodox teach that Peter received the Keys. They also aknowledge the Primacy of the Bishop of Rome. Cool how the oldest Christian Churches share in this.
Yep. So when are you 2 Denominations going to smoke the Peace Pipe?

Per Matthew, Christ Jesus will give the keys (future tense). Per Revelation, He still has the keys (present tense).

Another fine example of how 1800 years of Christianity and our constant falling away.

Only God knows.

I would really like to attend the Orthodox church next to my church. It is gorgeous on the outside and so the inside must be amazing.

indeed. They WERE after all, the same church up until the point that one (or the other, depending on whose point of view it is) had a hissy fit, took their ball and went home.

Is the translation correct?
# Matthew 16:19
I will give you the key-s of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven."

# Revelation 1:18
I am the Living One; I was dead, and behold I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades.
Matthew 16:17. Jesus replied, "Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by man, but by my Father(Also known as the Rock) in heaven. 18And I tell you that you are Peter, and on (that Rock)this rock I will build my church,...
It is more like Yahshua to glorify the Father.
Revelation 10
The Angel and the Little Scroll

1Then I saw another mighty angel coming down from heaven. He was robed in a cloud, with a rainbow above his head; his face was like the sun, and his legs were like fiery pillars. 2He was holding a little scroll, which lay open in his hand. He planted his right foot on the sea and his left foot on the land, 3and he gave a loud shout like the roar of a lion. When he shouted, the voices of the seven thunders spoke. 4And when the seven thunders spoke, I was about to write; but I heard a voice from heaven say, "Seal up what the seven thunders have said and do not write it down.

Well I am glad that after 1800 years you were able to correct the Billions that came before you and the Millions of today.

I guess you will not see the importance of having a constant and consistant teaching, that is Theology for ya.

The future tense used in Matthew 16, "will build" and "will give you the keys," refers to what Christ will give to St. Peter after the Resurrection.

This explanation was taken from the following article:

Funny you see it that way...

The RCC sees the EOC and OOC as still being Catholic. I think it was in Lumen Gentium that we had the most recent Apsotolic Letter regarding this. I could be wrong, there is probably something more up to date.

The Pope does indeed have some tough "shoes" to fill

Reve 1:18 and the living One! And I became dead, and behold, I am living into the Ages of the Ages, and I am having the Keys of the Hades and of the Death

"... the Pope is as it were God on earth, sole sovereign of the faithful Christ, chief of kings, having plenitude of power."

Lucius Ferraris, in "Prompta Bibliotheca Canonica, Juridica, Moralis, Theologica, Ascetica, Polemica, Rubristica, Historica", Volume V, article on "Papa, Article II", titled "Concerning the extent of Papal dignity, authority, or dominion and infallibility", #1, 5, 13-15, 18, published in Petit-Montrouge (Paris) by J. P. Migne, 1858 edition.

Its interesting to note that the RCC believes the Pope to be the chief of kings. So in other words he is over all the kings or rulers of the earth.

Note the word "plenitude".

Plenitude \Plen"i*tude\, noun [L. plenitudo, fr. plenusfull; cf. F. plenitude.]

1. The quality or state of beingfull orcomplete; fullness; completeness; abundance; as, the plenitude of space or power.

This is obviously false but is there a dream of this becoming a reality in the future? Do any catholics know of any efforts to make this a reality?

All I am saying is, the Orthodox do not view revelation in the same light as does Roman Catholicism but the fact that this book was barely canonized shows how much controversy was back then on it just as much as the controversy on it continues to this day.
That is why I quote from it a lot

Isaiah 22:22 And I give Key of house of David on shoulder-blade of him and he opens and no one is locking and he locks and is no one opening.

Reve 3:7 And to the Messenger of the in filadelfeia Out-Called write! Now-this is saying the Holy the True the One-having the Key *of-the David, the one opening and no one shall be *locking and locking and no-one is opening.

and they also see Protestants as under the authority of the Pope.

they are wrong about that too.

We aknowledge that in the Early Church the Bishop of Rome HAD Primacy, however for different reasons than the Roman Church claims, and we also reject any claims of Papal Supremacy... (the idea that Rome had any power outside of her canonical jurisdiction, or somehow was the 'head' of the church)

Rome's Primacy in the early church had nothing to do with St. Peter, if that were the case, why wasn't Antioch given Primacy? That church was also founded by St. Peter, before the Roman Church... The fact of the matter is, Rome was given Primacy for the same reason Constantinople (New Rome) was...

But of course that is not what Christ Jesus says. In Revelation, Christ says that He still has the keys.

So, what have we learned?

Christ Jesus will give the keys, per Matthew. He still has the keys per Revelation. As such, they do not reside with anyone on earth.

Trying to move away from the issue again? This is becoming very typical for you. Maybe you should change your avatar name to dodger.

And now you declare God's word "is not an authority but only a tool". I suppose the only thing you consider to be authority is the rcc. Any reader of the scriptures would know that's not true. Did you know that some follow men and their institutions but those that are born again follow only Christ?

Guess this must be the defective Protestants slipping in amongst the RCs to usurp them

2 Timothy 3:6 For out of these are ones slipping/endunonteV <1744> into the homes and leading into captivity little-women, having been heaped/seswreumena <4987> (5772) to sins being led to various lusts
