  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Yes.

What's frustrating about it is, not only the occaisional incredible lack of creativity or complexity within the music itself, but how the hordes of folks who do enjoy it react to it. By thinking that they're high and mighty because a genre has the word "punk" in it or whatever. I find the fans more annoying than the music most times, and I'm not calling out anybody here, I'm just thinking of the one time when I was trapped on the bus and "Sadie Hawkins Dance" was turned up real loud and all the other folks merrily sang through the chorus for the dozenth time...

isnt' pop short for popular? hence pop music is the popular music at the time?

so pop-punk would be a softened version of punk that appeals to the majority?
:amen: to both.

it does if you are somewhat musical

depends on what you class as "somewhat musical"

i consider myself somewhat musical, having grown up with music all my life. I see the value in simplicity. Some of my favourite pieces to play are the simplest ones.

Its not the complexity, it is the feeling that is expressed by the performer that makes good music.

You prentencious basterds dont even know what pop punk is, sheesh you think what you watch on mtv is pop punk, NO its not even pop, its a comercial. and advertisement for the latest trends brands etc, pure and simple. and theres nothing wrong with TALENTED pop, there is good pop punk, REAL POP PUNK, such as the ramones, screeching weasle, to name among others, you morons havnt even grasped a whisp of musical concept nor taste. so just shut up before you dig yourselves more in a pit of intolorance. btw. pick more intresting subject, other than this cliched lame ****, that you write in attempt to boost your ego, acting as if you were a rebel or running against the grain, you conformist ass wipes

it may sound easy, and may appear easy to play, but there is a difference between playing something correctly and playing something with feeling.

I have had this argument with another 17 year old who thought he was God's gift to music because he can say every musical term ever written and plays in a military band. My head normally hurts after these discussions and i normally go and talk to a wall because it is more understanding and gets where i am coming from.
