House Democrats introduce policing reform bill named for George Floyd

This is an article on a new bill proposed for passage in the House of Representatives regarding new standards of behavior and action from police in order to manage correct, active policing.

The false approach to understanding the issue that is related to Mr Floyd's death, is to cast a blanket of condemnation over the word "Police".
The reality is, the Police are a GOOD THING.....but what you can't solve in LIFE, is that sometimes a really bad PERSON becomes a Police officer.

Its an unfortunate reality that many very bad people will find a way into power and they will abuse it.

I wholeheartedly agree with what you've said here.

What we need to do is to find a way to
re-think what a police offer should do, and what their purpose is when they are on duty.

Just saying that it's their job to enforce the laws is obviously no longer enough, but that's what we are seeing on the news; police officers enforcing the laws as though enforcement is their main job.
It's not.

Their main job is to:
1. aid the public,
2. keep the peace.

and then if the laws are broken, to enforce them with physical force or gunfire only as a last resort.

We have a serious problem in police departments and it is likely to get worse. Due to public attitudes driven by media reporting and the increasing death rate in the profession, it is becoming very difficult to recruit the quality of individuals that the profession would desire. It is a difficult and dangerous job, if we want the best possible people doing it we need to be part of the solution and not part of the unwarranted condemnation that often is directed at the police. When is the last time you walked up to a police officer and said "I appreciate what you do and how difficult it is"
