I get my first weekend off in over a month this coming weekend. I think I'll throw back a bit of scotch with a nice book in front of a fire.

I've got Jaroslav Pelikan's History of Doctrine that I'm about 200 pg. into. Highly recommended!

Grab a cigar to go with your scotch!

Nothing like a good scotch to help the doctrine go down... ;)

In some cases you need something strong KWIM like Ouzo to wash down some of the heretical views ... They are too steep to swollow ;) it dries your throat from all the screaming and yelling ;)

"we are not woshiping icons y'all" ....Then again we can introduce St. John of Damascus but he is too "deep" for the uninformed :( :D

My current favorite :doh:moment is when someone defended WoF's health / wealth gospel with the argument that if we DON'T preach health and wealth "no one in their right mind" would want to become Christian.

So, by logic, we should also preach sex and power. Hey! Come join our Church! We'll give you everything you want!

It's just so far from the ethic of the Gospel I cannot even reply. I literally just stared at the screen with my mouth open.

We are looking for "gems" people come about EO beliefs and practices...

One that comes to mind.....

Bowing to icons is "worshiping" the icon...Blah...How many times people have told you this? I have come across this for ever...
You tell them the "idol" depicts a "foreign god" and secondly we do not worship the icon...we venerate as "bowing" ....Nah they say... But when they bow during their services... ah the doble standar of the things....

I had a someone trying to get me to take down my icon from my room when I was at college....Hehehe... She did not know I was at the seminary ;)

Anyone who talks about worshipping icons in a negative way shows a total ignorance of what the OT actually says about graven images and what Jewish history has to say as well.

Well, I finally got the Chicken Pot pies made. They were VERY good. I have tons of the filling left and tomorrow I'm going to make biscuits and we'll eat it as 'gravy & biscuits'.
I made three batches of pitas today to stuff in the freezer for Lent along with a veggie chili (recipe in some sticky on the first page). Need to make one more batch and then stop drawing a blank on what else to fix for the freezer. Going to make some dairy free Finnish Karelian pasties tomorrow if my legs allow me to stand the whole day again.
