  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

lol!!!

I'ld ask you to take a small step back and reflect on this entire conversation... The mental gymnastics you need to engage in to try and maintain a somewhat sensible worldview build on the foundation of your fundamentalist religious beliefs in relation with observable reality.

But I know you won't do that, so I'll just leave it at that and end the conversation with this gem of yours.

Lurkers reading this will hopefully realise the absurdity of your position.
I sure couldn't have done a better job myself in exposing just how absurd your position is.

I thought that prophets of scientism assumed that we are made of stardust aren't we ? If so then we are simply matter set in such and such order forming something you call " live " and when the order is disturbed then it " dies" .

So how do you tell something to be alive or dead if all there is matter ?:

Yes, yes... in "scientism", we can't tell if things are alive or dead. Uhu.

Seriously, dude....What's up?

The order begets behaviour and is expressed as characteristics. When that behaviour ceases and the characteristics disappear we know the former lifeform is now dead. Please ask additional questions, the answers to which will further your education.

He's already decided that you don't have any answers and refuses to consider otherwise.

Please don't bring up plants. They are too bleeping WEIRD! As you say, they do almost everything animals do, and things that animals can't do, and they do it all without a brain or even a nervous system! WHAT ARE THEY?! They freak me out! I like asparagus, though.

The asparagus will be pleased to hear that. I’ll pass the message on via the lettuce.

I understand that, but I think it is important for two reasons:
1.The offer is a genuine one and even though the odds are against it, he might accept. Stranger things have happened.
2. If he fails to take advantage of the offer it demonstrates to others that he is close minded.

I found a YouTube video from the Nature tv show about plants that confirms a lot of the things I pointed out in the OP. Again this is a screenshot! You’ll have to google. The video goes into detail about how scientists figured this out. Plants aren’t passive green stuff that carnivorous dinosaurs ate before the Fall. ( I was told that by several creationists)

Like the defense attorney in Inherit the Wind points out, religious fundamentalism is little more than a gilded hobby-horse made of ticky-tacky that falls apart under closer inspection.
