I've not posted in this thread before and just spent half an hour reading through all the posts. The one thing that has struck me is the lack of teaching the young ones are receiving from the churches concerning 'worshipping in spirit and in truth". Are you taught that if you go to a concert and give all your energy and excitement into hyped music and dance, with jumping and mosh pits, that this is praise and worship? That giving to the Lord what you think He wants is pleasing to Him? Now, I'm not trying to be smart here... is this what you are taught? Or is nothing taught and you make up your own minds how you think God wants to be praised and worshipped?
Now, I know I'm an oldie, but I like rock music, blues, soul music etc, and LOUD! My youngest daughter, who's 21 and not yet a confessing christian, tells me, her mother, to turn the music down! But there is a difference in going to a loud concert to be entertained, and going to a meeting or assembly of people, to worship God.
I've been in church services and conferences, where Holy Spirit comes and tells people to dance on the chairs. Or, to dance around with vases on their heads. Or, to dance around the whole building, while the music is playing. Or, run around tables. Or, He wants them to put face to floor and be silent before Him. And it's because HE TELLS THE PEOPLE WHAT HE WANTS THEM TO DO. And that is worshipping under the unction of the Holy Spirit. That is worshipping in truth (I think it was Kristian who said that the whole of your life is actually meant to be worship unto the Lord) If you go to a meeting with good rock music and it's loud, don't be fooled into thinking that the response you get in your flesh (it feels good, so I will do it) is the Holy Spirit. The naturally high energy levels of youth are not worshipping in the Spirit. It's just energy being released. Learn to use your Holy Spirit given discernment in recognising the difference between the Spirit and the flesh.
(Joh 6:63) "It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing; the words that I have spoken to you are spirit and are life.
(Phi 3:3) for we are the true circumcision, who worship in the Spirit of God and glory in Christ Jesus and put no confidence in the flesh,
