Pilates Anyone?

I am starting a new exercise program. I ordered Winsor Pilates.

Has anyone used or have any oppinions on this program? Is it easy for beginners and such?

I have not had an exercise program in about 9 years, 3 kids later I am so out of shape and overweight. I do plan on doing something about it though.

Any oppinions would be greatful!

try the 20 minute Windsor Pilates workout. You can get it on eBay. Being a mom of 2 myself,I'm finding I am sculpting and reshaping my once fat hourglass. It really does work. I do Pilates 3-4 times a week,faithfully.Best of luck.

Yes, I love Pilates. I do the 20 minute workout and the bun and thigh workout. Both are 20 minute workouts and fabulous for the beginner!

i've tried a few bits of it. it definetly makes a burn. if i had a vcr or dvd player i'd probably order a program.

I can't wait for it to get here. I apreciate your comments, I was worried I was pshycing myself up for nothing. I'm not sure how long it will take for me to receive it but I have started stretching to prepare my muscles.

My wife and i just started with a 'pilates for dummies' video. We really like it. It really gets your muscles working and after the first workout we thought we'd be really sore the next day. But suprisingly we weren't, we actually felt really good.

I have the windsor pilates DVDs. I did them for a while but didn't see much of a change and got lazy so I stopped. Maybe it would do more if I kept up with it for a couple months, just not patient I guess.

yeah,I used to do TaeBo with my husband,it's actually fun. If your like me you get to laughing and then you always have to stop the DVD or the tape!!!

gimlisgrl, Measure yourself and then do the Winsor Pilates for 21 days. Then measure again and see if there's a difference.

I did winsor pilates 4 times in one week and lost an inch. It was awesome... the only thing is, don't do the 40 minute workout if you have even a slightly bad back. That one put me in bed for a week. I haven't done it since, but I really should...


Hey, anyone want to start an annoying e-mail reminder ring with me? Getting a few "have you done your pilates today?" e-mails everyday, might just be the boost I need!!!!

Thanks for the warning on the bad back...I do have one and I tend to overdue it at times (landed in the ER a few times for that reason). Though I am a mom of 3, in bed for a week sounds great Did I say that? hehe jk

I still have not gotten my video yet...I ordered it about a two and a half weeks ago grrrr, *waiting impatiently*

Pilates are great! I would recomend them to anyone! If you stick to it I guarantee you will see results

21 days in a row? Which work out? The advanced or pilattes basics? I think she said to do it 3 days a week, but are you saying 21 in a row?

She says after 21 times of doing it...referring to 3-4 days a week. I actually did it everyday for a month just taking off one day per week....it took off so many inches! I didn't loose weight but my clothes were about a size bigger. I used pilates from the livingarts website
they have a tape for each level.

In addition to pilates I want to do the Setting Captives Free program, The Lord's Table. I can't post the link yet...but it's something like www*dot*settingcaptivesfree*dot*com. I've seen it posted on this site before. I have done it up to day 4 in the past. I would like to try again. If anything I grew more in my spiritual walk, and hey that's always a good thing.

I love the Windsor Pilates program. Since you haven't participated in an exercise program in 9 years this might be a little hard at first - don't be discouraged. We (as a family) actually found my new Pilates program kind of funny. There are going to be positions you won't be able to get into at first and my daughter (she's 5) just cracked up at me. I had to laugh too. Eventually, I became a little more limber and dispite my extra weight, was able to do everything. So just enjoy it, and have a good laugh if you have too!

Well, I finally got the Pilates DVD. Lynn you are right, they have some funny positions! lol. The seal thing still cracks me up (where you clap your feet 3 times). HAHA

The first time I used it (the beginners basic one) I could do about 3/4 of it, and the other 1/4 I did the modified version. By my second workout, to my surpirse, I can do ALL of it! That amazed me. By the end of the workout, I was getting my second wind ready to do more.....must have ate my Wheaties that day. hehe I think I can do it more on a daily basis w/o overdoing it.

I was worried about my back, but this has been so good for it so far. My posture has improved a lot, I feel loose and limber (until I did yard work anyway ).

I am anxious to get the second DVD, does anyone know how much harder it is?

Good for you! That's the one! The seal! I still giggle when I think about it. But now that you've done it a few times, don't you feel a little longer? Like your muscles are stretched out more. My legs hurt like heck the day after I do it, but I love that! Makes me feel like I'm really doing something!
