Hap, I would wager than you and I are really on the same page, viewing the true Church to consist of all beleivers and our unity is in Christ. The popes restating the of the RCC position that it is the true church and we protestants are lesser christians gives the sense that we are the red-headed step-children...like, "ok, so you are saved and God can use you, but you're still not a real Christian." This has led em to examine more closely the official teachings of the RCC on other issues and while I do know that there are true beleivers in the RCC that are my brother and sister, I can not in any way pretend that there are not major issues in the teachings of the RC denomination. Then we have RC's on here jumping to say that it isn't what that means, but when looking at the official vatican website, it really is what they mean.

Could I also say that I feel that you view RC as less of a Christian because you say are beliefs are wrong and the RCC have major issues in teaching.

Sometimes I run across variances in the 3 main greek MSS and that causes me concern, but I LEAP FOR JOY when I see all 3 agreeing with other.

The keys to the Kingdom is the Gospel, the good news, and every one us, all the members of the royal preisthood get those keys and we all have the ministry of reconciliation as His ambassadors.



Also, the problem with the aramaic argument is, even if Jesus spoke Aramaic it is the original manuscripts that matter because the authors wrote what God inspired them to write and it is obvious that the words are different, otherwise the translators would have used the same word. God is faithful to preserve His Word.

Lastly, looking at that verse in context of the whole Bible, the RCC teaching fails for the whole Bible points to Christ as the head of the Church and Him as the foundation, our all in all.....not Peter.
