I was sitting in traffic today and I was inspired to start this thread. What are the things in life that really make you lose your patience? I'm not talking about the big stuff, I'm talking about the little stuff like when the person in front of you at the Express Lane in the grocery store has more than 10 items, or when somebody at a four-way stop takes your right-of-way. I know that when I get stuck behind somebody in traffic and they're doing 20 mph less than what I would like to be doing I start mumbling things like "idiot driver...you'd better be 100 years old...that's the only excuse!" I know it's seriously unchristlike and I have to consciously curb these attitudes towards impatience.

So, gang, what are the things that really steam your beans?:yum:

...people who leave washcloths in the sink so that they get soaking wet everytime someone runs the tap and then when you need to use the washcloth or empty the sink you've got to squeeze out all this gross water that's been used for rinsing who knows what and just collected in the cloth...ick...drives me absolutely nuts...

Let's see.

1. People that drive below the speed limit.
2. People that panic when it is snowing, even if there is no snow on the roads.
3. People that are full of "idle chatter". i.e. constantly saying things they have no intention of doing.
4. Friends who conceal information.
5. People who go to a fast food place, and have to "special order" everything.

LOL mrstace! That reminded me of another one of my pet peeves. Down here in Georgia we get a good snowfall maybe once a year and it usually melts within a couple of days, but people still panic. I've lived in North Georgia my entire life and every year we get a miniscule amount of snow. For some reason though, whenever the weatherman predicts snow flurries, you can go to the store and all of the bread and milk will be gone. Okay, first of all, as long as I've lived in Georgia we've never been snowed into starvation. Second, who wants to eat bread and milk when they're snowed in? LOL Last time they threatened a nasty snowstorm I breezed by the panicked shoppers in the dairy section at the store and picked up a can of squeeze cheese, a box of crackers, and some Chips Ahoy cookies. Heh, and all those people were buying bread and milk. *pfffft* Amateurs! :p

1. People who don't follow through with what they specifically say they're going to do. What's the point of saying it if you're not going to do it??

2. when people come over to visit, make a mess, and just leave it there (like spilling stuff on the floor and leaving it there! yuck!)

3. the fact that a "new season" of a sitcom only has to contain 4 or 5 actual new episodes...I may be exaggerating a little, but not a lot!

I have a friend that does this and it drives me nuts! She special orders no matter where we eat. We went to the Hard Rock Cafe in Atlanta a few years ago and I ordered straight off the menu, no substitutions, nothing special. She ordered and it took her 5 minutes to tell the waiter how she wanted her order. When it was served, her's was perfect, mine was messed up!

I have lots of pet peeves. One is, during construction zones on highways, and you will see a sign that says "Right lane closed 1 mile ahead." There is ALWAYS some driver that waits until the very last chance to pull over. I won't let them in. They read the sign as plain as I did.

Another pet peeve is parents that let their children cry in church, in a restaurant, in a movie. Please, take them outside. Let the rest of us enjoy what we came to enjoy or more, paid to enjoy. Now I am not talking about a little whimper, but a temper tantrum or an all out wail, remove them until they have calmed down. For some reason, the child that is doing this always eems to be sitting right behind me screaming in my ear!

- people who talk more than they listen
- When I'm home early enough to watch General Hospital and then a breaking news story about something no body cares about interupts my show.
-snow
-people who bring babies to movies and then don't leave when the thing starts crying
-or when people clap at the movies. Who are they appluding?.....Themselves. The actors cant hear'em. It's not a play its a movie.
-When taco bell messes up my order and makes my food with beef which is nasty and not chicken like I asked.
-People who take opinions personally
-unnecessary emotion

I'm a really big road rage person...

I tend to try (when I'm thinking about it) to instead of yelling at them and calling them idiots...to pray for them. "Lord, please bless that person that just cut me off...and help them to drive more carefully so they don't get into a wreck" Kinda like that.

I also get annoyed when people with children don't clean up after them or aren't willing to help out in nursery (knowing they have kids in there and people who don't even have children do nursery...)

imo, if you have children who go to the nursery on sundays...you need to be willing to dedicate at least 1 sunday every 2 months or something to working the nursery. why is it fair that people who don't even have children watch your children who you aren't even willing to watch and help out? (sorry, I have a friend who does this, and it frusterates me that she complains when she has to help out in nursery...her child goes, so why shouldn't she help out?)

grrrrrr.....I have the same pet peeve, I absolutely HATE it when people wait til the last possible second to merge, when there are signs way back warning them of a lane ending. they usually end up waiting the same amount of time for someone to let them in, then if they merged upon seeing the sign!

Another pet peeve is parents that let their children cry in church, in a restaurant, in a movie. Please, take them outside. Let the rest of us enjoy what we came to enjoy or more, paid to enjoy. again, I have the same pet peeve!!! it is particularly true in church when there is a solemn moment, such as a prayer or communion, and there's a little child wailing away. the church has a nursery, and also the foyer where many parents sit with their children (for whatever reason they won't take them to the nursery) and they can still hear the service, but not disturb others. but to let your child cry for an extended period of time during a church service, is frankly disrespectful, IMHO. don't get me wrong, I love kids, and I actually work in the church nursery. but a child crying takes away from certain moments in the service.

The kids things bugs me, but so do the parents who pull the "I should be able to go out, too" thing and just let their kids cry or be disruptive. True, they have the right to go out, but get a babysitter if you're going to an adult place, or be prepared to leave if your kids start acting up. At a place for adults, adults have the "right of way" so to speak, and kids shouldn't be there, unless they're not going to disrupt other adults. The world does not revolve around your kids, and you shouldn't expect it to.

The snow thing - Friday it took me 3-1/2 hours to get to work, usually a 40 minute drive around the Capital Beltway. Why? Flurries. I am convinced it's worse after a big storm in recent years, because people think, "Oh, I managed in 2 feet, so I should be fine in flurries or just an inch," forgetting that they're the same people who used to stay home when it snowed an inch. So they get in accidents. Stupid.

i'll get some, but then realize that it's not in me to tolerate my intolerance for long.

for instance, i was informed, kind of snidely in my opinion, that this one girl hadn't done her job. instantly, i was fuming at people who blamed me for their problems and disappoint me, leaving me in a lurch (last minute? heck, i already told you i was scheduling a meeting and i'm giving you almost a weeks notice, and you told me you were free after 2:00, so how was i supposed to know that this one day you wouldn't be avaliable. you know what i think, you just didn't do your work, and are bailing from the meeting because you had nothing to show for supposedly many weeks of work!!)

then i just felt reminded that God will work for the good of those who love Him, and i do, so i just let it go. when i let it go, i realized that i was assuming a lot, she had a point, and that i was going to be okay.

just had to confess that.

You just have to shake your head in Colorado when you go out after the first snow and see all the SUVs, 4WDs, and sports cars spun out in the ditch, knowing if they just took it easy they'd have no problem. All the really cool people with the fancy toys overdid it just a little.

Maybe they'll learn in the next year? Dunno - not if the past 20 are any indication .... :^)

LOL haha
I driven a 2 wheel drive vehicle all my life in minnesota. Snowstorm or not, if you think that you are invincible with 4wd you are DEAD WRONG! haha.
I learned to drive in the snow on an overpowered 2wd truck with no weight in the back of it!

Right -
In snow, the invincible are the most vulnerable and the circumspect rule!
If you don't drive with your brain, your vehicle won't help much!

You know, I just recently went from a front wheel drive vehicle to a 4WD. And let me tell you, something happens to your brain when you get behind the wheel of a 4WD! :) All of a sudden, you just feel this power surging through your veins. It's hard to explain. I used to fuss at all the drivers who had 4WD and would blow everyone off the roads. Now I am afraid I am becoming one of them. ;) I had a friend recenly tell me "Now don't forget, you are driving a Blazer, not a tank!"

same thing happens here....yesterday I almost got hit by an enormous SUV who was approaching a stop sign wayyy too fast and was barely able to stop. I gave him a *look*, and he responded with an annoyed *what-was-I-supposed-to-do-it's-slippery* look. bah....if you drove a little slower, you would have had no problem stopping! those SUVs give drivers a bit too much confidence!

sorry....this hits another sore point with me!!! just had to vent
