  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Mine too. Middle of the thoracic spine. But it makes movement of the arms very difficult. I found that it gets worse if I sleep on a futon with a hard mattress. It seems to be getting better now that I am back on my softer mattress.

I hope that yours will get better soon.
:)
 thanks! same to you sweetie!

OK, I'll jump in again.

I might have said it before, but I'm not sure I've said it in this thread, and if I did, it bears repeating. :)

My current peeve is when I begin a job, or a rehabilitation program to prepare for a job, and someone warns me, "Be careful not to make too much money. You'll lose your government assistance."

You know what? That's the whole point. I'm trying to get better and get OFF the government programs. If I'm doing so well that I make too much money to qualify for assistance, then I don't need the assistance, do I?

Watching when someone with a handicap plate or plaque gets out of a vehicle in a handicap space and trots into the store.
In all fairness, not all disabilities are visible. But you're right. Myself, I use a cane, and my doctor wouldn't OK a handicap plaque for our car. She said if I could walk 100 yards, even with a cane, I don't need one.

So yeah, seeing someone with a plaque (which I couldn't get) hop out of the car and trot to the door (which I can't do) would definitely steam me. Kind of related to the one about the motorized carts, that I posted a couple of pages ago. I hate getting to the store and seeing them all in use, especially by people who can walk perfectly well but just don't want to.

A man I know uses a motorized wheelchair. Picture him rolling down the street on his way to the doctor's office, when a young athletic kid jogs past him and remarks, "I wish I had one of those, so I wouldn't have to walk everywhere." Meanwhile, the man in the chair would give anything not to have to use it... but people treat it like it's a convenience? Grrrrr.

Peeve: Friends who try to dig for gossip in your life, who take something perfectly innocent and try to make it seem like something controversial.

Example: Friend says, "Have you seen Jane recently?"
Me: "No."
Friend: "Wait, so Jane doesn't go to your church anymore?"
Me: "I didn't say that. You asked me if I had seen Jane, and I said no."
Friend: "But you said you haven't seen her. So she must have stopped going to your church?"
Me (irritated): "I DON'T KNOW! If you want to know how Jane is doing, why don't you call her yourself???"

Or how about....
Me: "My sister's going to Hawaii for vacation."
Friend: "Are you going with her?"
Me: "No."
Friend: "Your sister's going and she didn't even invite you? She doesn't want you to go with her? How do you feel about that? Do you two not get along when you travel?"
Me: "I didn't say that she didn't invite me. She DID invite me. But I can't go because I have a deadline at work that week."
Friend: "Oh."

Yeah, I know. Some friend!

Uncivilized and insensitive behavior justified with "Hey, I'm a guy. What do you expect?"

That one just gets to me. A Y chromosome is no excuse to be a jerk.

Mike says he had enough trouble trying to convince his last girlfriend that men aren't all alike, he doesn't need anyone openly perpetuating the "men are pigs" stereotype.
