  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

pp is rude people on the bus
Mike is a bus driver. I'm sure he'd give you props for that one!

I grew up as the oldest of four kids, and the nicest we ever had was a 3-bedroom, 1-bath house. My latest pet peeve is those spoiled young rich couples on HGTV who have one kid, go house hunting, and complain that a 5-bedroom house is too small.

Oy, it really bugs me when my boss talks sometimes. I'm not even sure why he does it, but he often tells people he's "a close friend" with someone or he "has a tight relationship" with them. He spends all his time promoting himself. He spends so much time trying to *look* like he's better than me (I'm second in seniority), rather than spending his time doing the work that would prove himself a leader.

And his definition of "close friend" is ridiculous. He stops by someone's desk once a week to chit chat for two minutes and he considers that being "a close friend." Meanwhile, I work with that person every day. And he tries to give other people the impression that there's something he could get done by talking to that person that I couldn't get done. His deceitfulness is painful to be around.

I know, this is more of a vent than a peeve, but I'm hoping y'all wouldn't mind my stretching the definition for this one. I really needed to get that off my chest. :sorry: Phew!

My current pet peeve is people who just DON'T get it that an apology includes the words "I'm sorry."

Yeah, I agree, but even the "if" is better than no "I'm sorry" at all....

So is "I'm sorry you were hurt," which is still a bit weasly 'cuz it doesn't admit wrong, but I'll take it.

Yup, not saying "I'm sorry" can hardly be considered an apology. Chalk it up to pride, I guess!

A not-quite-peeve, but still odd: When someone compliments a change in your appearance by saying, "You look SO MUCH BETTER than before! SO MUCH BETTER!" I try to take it in a positive sense, but still ... very odd way of wording it. It's like, wow, did you think I looked hideous before?

Hubby Mike contributes this pet peeve: Retail businesses that ask for your phone number. "Look, I'm in here to buy shoes. What possible reason do you have for needing my phone number?"

crazy drivers, liars, people in stores that you say hello to and they don't speak- whatever, busy stores with 1 or 2 cashiers, people picking their noses, lemon car dealers with terrible mechanics, online pop up pervy adds, impatient people, women who yell to the top of the lungs at their children in the store for attention, pervy phone tv commercials, whiney kids, and my favorite- like someone mentioned- when you respond and no one responsed but does to the other post.
