  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Most people who are in error do not think they are in error. And everyone is in error to some degree, wouldn't you say? Else, we would have all knowledge.

1 John 4:6
We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.

There does seem to be a spirit of error and a spirit of truth. At some point everyone is going to have to go all one way or the other. Truth or error, love or hate, all right or all wrong. Faith or doubt and unbelief.

Isn't that why there are so many denominations in Christianity? Every one of them think the others are in error on some particular point.

Not really, I think more in terms of christians who are mature and those who are immature. Eventually, all true christian will grow up into the unity of the faith.

Ephes. 4:13
till we all come to theunity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ;

It really amazes me how little it takes for some Christians to cry "persecution!" It's as though they think any and all nonsensical and illogical arguments are suddenly redeemed by their whining. Did you contradict them? "PERSECUTION!" Did you show your work? "PERSECUTION!" Did you prove them wrong? "PERSECUTION!"

Whatever, John. I'm sorry no one takes you seriously. I'm sorry you can't put forward a coherent hypothesis. I'm sorry you're so quick to alienate anyone who disagrees with you.

Stop trying to pin your issues on everyone else, please.

I have seen no real persecution on this board, and most of you do not agree with what I say. I do not feel persecuted because of disagreement, or even insults. Persecution is defined as
1 : to harass in a manner designed to injure, grieve, or afflict; specifically : to cause to suffer because of belief

I have never suffered because of my beliefs, and I doubt anyone here has. Suffer hurt feelings maybe, but I do not see that as the same thing in any way.
How about those in other countries that are tortured, beaten, killed, for what they believe?
That seldom happens in the U.S., does it.

I do not know what you mean by take seriously. I started this thread and people are commenting on it. If it just sat there and no one commented and the thread went no where. I would consider that to be people not taking me serious.
