  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

We all know about Penicillin, one of the best inventions of our time...however did anyone know that thousands of years before Fleming, Mold was used to fight off infections...Ancient Egyptians would hold a moldy piece of bread to a wound to help it heal...

Ya...okay, so this is probably old news to many, but I thought it was neat :)
As one who dreaded Biology in highschool I am actually starting to find it quite interesting...still not a fan of chemistry, math, english....:holy:

If I recall correctly One of the Molds in Moldy Bread is Penicillium, so it doesn't surprise me that it would work.

Quite a few medical discoveries developed out of observing traditional folk practices. Quinine was found in cinchona bark that indigenous South American peoples used to prevent fever (malaria.) Cocaine, of course, was discovered in the coca leaves that other tribesmen chewed for energy and alertness. The foxglove plant was a folk remedy for "dropsy" (edema.) Which is how digitalis was found. And it was known for years that something in fresh fruits and vegetables prevented scurvy on long sea voyages. Though it wasn't until the 1920s that vitamin C was finally identified.
