When Mike Pence staged a preplanned walkout during a Week 5 Colts-49ers game, he not only made a political statement, he cost the local police department $14,000. That's on top of the nearly quarter of a million dollars Pence cost taxpayers to make a Trump-mandated stand against protesting players. The Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington director said

“The tone is set at the top when it comes to this administration’s disregard for ethics. Vice President Pence should know better than to use taxpayer money to make a rhetorical point, but carelessness with taxpayer money seems to be a common theme with senior administration officials."

He knew he wasn't going to when he took the flight there, when he had the reporters wait outside on account of how he knew he wouldn't be in there long. Just like how if you order an expensive, elaborately prepared 5-course meal & you actually eat it, that's not a waste. You get served it all, then you stand up and walk out without taking a bite, that's a waste & an insult.

If the money spent is the same whether or not he stayed, and there is still a complaint, then the money is not the issue.

The money is just thrown out there to try to make the situation seem worse. And the support for that is that if he would have stayed, we would never have heard a story about it. And the support for that is that he does things every weekend that we don’t hear about, let alone how much it costs.

As long as my tax dollars are not being wasted on food for jobless people or people on Obama care or anything else that would benefit needy people, I really don’t care what they spend it on. I think it shows good governance and loyalty when the Vice President follows the tweets of our Commander in Chief.
