The thunderstorms made me jump at every crack of thunder, as my ptsd seems ramped-up from the antidepressants making me ultra sensitive to sound and light.
Its all the extra serotonin and the subsequent headaches, teeth grinding and insomnia, and extra jumpiness.
I'm trying to work around these common symptoms.
Usually the soft rain sounds are calming, but last night I tried it first, and found the hard pouring rain actually made me keep thinking of the bathroom, so it was not calming last night.
Instead, it was the jackie gleason one bc all the sounds were pretty smoooth, not a sudden and sharp "crack" startling me!
Maybe you have your sound volume up too high; the rain sounds should be soothing; not jarring.
When I first started listening to the rain & thunder videos; the thunder did startle me; but after awhile; it got so it was hearing God's power in a tangible way.
In the Bible; His voice is described as being "the sound of many thunders" so maybe we need to get used to it.
