Sport hunting is not the same as hunting for pleasure.

"Sport" hunting vs. "pleasure" hunting? Do you even know anything about hunting? (Just that only evil ol' NRA members do it? :D)

Hm... you're right. You're point?

It's just interesting. It's not an organization I would ever support.

The same reason I go target shooting. I don't shoot a target and giggle 'cause it's so fun.

I'm proud of myself when I haul home a coupla pounds of lean ground beef, too. I know a full belly's coming.

Besides, without hunting I'd never have tasted rabbit or venison. Them's good eats. Well the venison is; the rabbit's fair to good.

Why do you go target shooting then? And you never answered me when I asked you why you go hunting if it isn't for fun. You don't need to do it to survive, so why else would you do it unless it's for the "thrill" of killing something?

I'm proud of myself when I bring home food that was never living.

This thread is about PETA's tactics of lowering humans to the level of animals, just like the Nazi's did to the Jews.

Laura,

What say you about PETA?

I say PETA is good in theory, but sometimes they go overboard. They have a good message - animals are not here to be tortured by humans for food, but they cross the line at times.

I don't think they lower humans to the level of animals. They are using an analogy to display what humans are doing to animals. It is barbaric. And although it's not the same as what the Nazi's did to the Jews, it's still wrong. I don't think they should have used the Holocaust as a basis for their campaign.

Like what - rocks and dirt?

Like fruits, vegetables, and soy products. Nothing that was tortured and slaughtered for me. In fact, I had a wonderful soy "hotdog" for dinner.

...but way too ignore my entire post and focus on something you could make a dumb joke about.

I think there is a growing consensus on that, amongst the pro-omnivores and the vegitarian advocates. At least nearly everyone agrees the add isn't appropriate.

Ryder, earlier you metnioned you don't side with many of the animal activists, and environmentalists because too many of em talk that "earth nonsense" and worship Gaia. So does that mean that non christians should all be prochoice? I have a feeling if you were discussing abortion with a non christian and they said they couldn't be pro life because too many of the pro life quacks are christian, you would find that absurd. So now you see how your POV and reason to not be an activist is absurd, to me.

Hm...I notice you have an NRA icon in your profile.

So there is not fun at all in hunting? I don't understand why anyone would do it. It's disgusting. You're proud of yourself when you can haul home a dead animal? Sickening.

amen sister. there are two types of people. those who can kill without remorse and those who can't. There aren't words to describe my feelings to those who can.

When was the last time you swatted a bug? Feel any remorse about that?

actually i did. what is your point? trying to catch me in something? I am extremely afraid of bugs...big phobia, but if i can shoo it out the door, that is what i do. I always wonder if it feels pain, if i do swat it. Not something i dwell on for days, but a crossing thought, and a tinge of guilt. Hey next are you going to ask me if I eat vegetables too, since they are living plants?

Yes, I do feel remorse about swatting a bug, and that's why I don't do it anymore. Completely OT.

Hunting is wrong, regardless. Unless you are stranded in the woods with nothing to eat, murdering animals is never out of necessity. I can't believe that some people actually murder and consume living beings for the "thrill" and the "challenge" of it, that is absolutely sickening.

WARNING: The following links contain vulgar language and strong emotional outbursts.

For all you "Why should we needlessly slaughter millions of helpless animals" hippy utopians. The statements in these two articles are indeed facts, verified with a link in the first statement, of how PETA/vegetarians slaughter millions of animals themselves, but don't eat the meat.

Actually, Shaman's comment about killing living things made this relevant. You're right though, this has nothing to do with PETA and their tactics.

You're entitled to your opinion.
