Opinions Needed

I'm looking to purchase an all around good quality digital camera. What I am looking for is something that is 6+ megapixel, decently high optical zoom but not an SLR, automatic AND manual... basically something I can take regualr everyday pictures, but also get a litte creative with from time to time, as photography/art interest me. And my price range is max $600 CDN.

I am seriously looking at a Canon PowerShot S3 IS... does this seem like a good choice? Any recommendations?

Also - the above camera has 12X optical zoom... is that capable of macro shots?

Well, I went ahead with the Canon Powershot S3 IS. Perhaps I'll post some pictures soon... after I figure out how to use all these buttons and settings...

Once you use it for awhile, could you post about how you like it? I've been looking for a new camera and that's one of the ones that I've been looking at.

I'm glad you like it so far. I've heard a lot of good things about that camera. Go Canon.
