The thread just shut down after people were accusing the poster for creating it, I still have it on my email sent to me about three weeks ago. My wife and I laughed and thought it was a cute way to get people into their church. I was not offended by it. I do not know if it was real or not. I have crossed country a few times with several churches that had cute saying on them.

I pass by a Baptist church (not the one in the picture ;) ) that has a sign out front where they change the saying once a week, or so.

Not too long ago, they had a blood drive and the sign read something like "Christ shed all his blood for you, can you shed some for another?"

I think those signs are some of the best.

I've seen a billboard campaign that I really liked.

An engineer died and ended up in Hell. He was not pleased with the

level of comfort in Hell, and began to redesign and build improvements.

After a while, they had toilets that flush, air conditioning and

escalators. Everyone grew very fond of him.

One day God called to Satan to mock him, "So, how's it going down

there in Hell?"

Satan replied, "Hey, things are great. We've got air conditioning and

flush toilets and escalators and there's no telling what this

engineer is going to come up with next."

God was surprised, "What? You've got an engineer? That's a mistake.

He should never have gotten down there in the first place. Send him

back up here."

"No way," replied Satan. "I like having an engineer, and I'm keeping

him."

God threatened, "Send him back up here now or I'll sue!"

Satan laughed and answered, "Yeah, right. And just where are YOU

going to get a lawyer?"

<snip>

Karl Marx died and was denied entrance to Heaven and was sent down to Hell.

Two years later, all supplies from Hell to Heaven ceased. The representative from Heaven went down to see Satan to see what was up.

"It's that Karl Marx you sent us!" exclaimed Satan "We've had nothing but rolling strikes and stoppages. The minions of Hell are demanding better working conditions, better pay and retirement to Heaven."

"What!" exclaimed Heavens rep "That's preposterous, what are you going to do about it?"

"Well, I figure that if I can get rid of this Karl Marx I can break this strike up. Why don't you guys take him?"

"Well, it's a bit unethical, but okay. We'll take him!"

So Marx is sent to Heaven and within six weeks, Satan's strikebreakers crush the union movement. The workers are forced back to work and production resumes.

Two years later, all orders from Heaven stop. The warehouses in Hell are filled to overflowing and Hell's economy is in chaos. Infuriated, Satan goes to Heaven to speak with Heaven's rep.

"Why haven't you placed any orders in over three months?" demands Satan.

"Oh. Well, you see we realised we were being petty bourgeousie and in the process, oppressing the proletariat in Hell. So, we've decided to adopt a Marxist isolationist stance in support of our comrades in Hell. Soon, they will rise up in a glorious revolution against their oppressors."

"What!" exclaimed Satan. "That's preposterous! I demand to see God!"

Heaven's representative raises an eyebrow and asks "Who?"

It is with the saddest heart that I must pass on the following news:

Please join me in remembering a great icon of the entertainment community. The Pillsbury Doughboy died yesterday of a yeast infection and trauma complications from repeated pokes in the belly. He was 71.

Doughboy was buried in a lightly greased coffin. Dozens of celebrities turned out to pay their respects, including Mrs.Butterworth, Hungry Jack, the California Raisins, Betty Crocker, the Hostess Twinkies, and Captain Crunch. The grave site was piled high with flours.

Aunt Jemima delivered the eulogy and lovingly described Doughboy as a man who never knew how much he was kneaded. Doughboy rose quickly in show business, but his later life was filled with turnovers. He was not considered a very smart cookie, wasting much of his dough on half-baked schemes. Despite being a little flaky at times he was still a crusty old man and, was considered a roll model for millions.

Doughboy is survived by his wife, Play Dough, two children, John Dough and Jane Dough, plus they had one in the oven. He is also survived by his elderly dad, Pop Tart. The funeral was held at 3:50 for about 20 minutes.

Can a mod please edit this thread to make it [OPEN]? That way it will be like Reilly's, The Canterbury Alehouse and The Open Cafe.

As for me, all my threads will be [OPEN] from now on.

Edit:

WWMC is pretty much open to all comers now!

Having threads [OPEN] is only for fellowship or for the purpose of asking questions. If it is a debate thread, there will be no debating from those who are not eligible for posting in this forum.

Dawn,

How come you and Old Shepherd are the only UTD mods that I ever see around this forum on a regular basis?

How can the others help you two make decisions if they rarely read these threads?

Just curious.

That's slightly different to what Erwin has said on the matter. Debate is out, but discussion hasn't been ruled out. Also, ineligible posters can't start [OPEN] threads at all, they can only post in ones started by an eligible poster.

WWMC-Liberal forum is opening up pretty much all threads.

This is a follow on from Erwins question as to whether CF is friendly enough or not. Obviously he thinks it isn't.

I understand there are further changes coming soon...

Actually, this is a very good question. The more I think about it, the better the question is.

Where are our absentee moderators?

Discussion, IMO, is fellowship. Debate is defined as when an opposing POV is expressed to a given statement. Once that happens, it is no longer discussion, it is debate.
