Thursday 12th January - North Africa Region

Pastors sometimes need to travel abroad for schooling, for fellowship and for encouragement yet are often prevented from doing so by the authorities. Pray that the Lord will open these closed doors.

Word has reached us of a family that has had to move from a city where there were other believers to a village where they are the only Christians. Pray that they will be stregthened in their faith and that soon other people will get to know the LOrd so that they can have fellowship.

Saturday 14th January - China

Although Bibles are officially available through the Three-Self church, especially along the wealtheir costal provinces, many further in the hinterland are either too poor to afford them or too isolated to reach the official Christian bookstores. Please pray the Lord will guide us to such pockets of neglected or isolated believers with the spiritual food they desperately need.

Sunday 15th January - China

Many house churches are active in outreach beyond their own region. Open Doors partners with these to enable them to fullfill the great commision. Please pray that they will get the resources they need and cry out for.

Monday 16th January - Philippines

Please uphold more than 30 new believers in the Sulu and Tawi-tawi region in your prayers. Pray that they will resist pressure from relatives and neighbours to go back to their former Muslim beliefes and ways.

Pray for the repeal of the anti-conversion law which is in force in several states- Madhya Pradesh, Chattisgarh, Gujarat, Orissa, Arunachal Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu. Pray that other states do not get added to the list.

Thursday 19th January - India

Dalits (low caste Hindus) who embrace Christianity lose certain benefits offered by the goverment aimed at overcoming their social backwardness. Pray for a decision by the Supreme Court to restore these special privileges to Christian dalits.

Sri Lanka

Continue to pray for the ministry of the printed page. The Namaskara magazine seks to help pastors and other Christian leaders to be more knowledgeable and effective in their work. Give thanks also for theological books being provided by OPen Doors/NCEASL to graduates of Bible seminaries.

Sunday 22nd January - Indonesia

Please pray for the first of two "standing strong through the storm" seminars to be held in Meulaboh, Nangroe Aceh Daraussalam between 6-9pm (23rd-28th Junary). These are discipleship training sessions held during the evening for those with jobs during the day.

Friday 17th January - Yemen

Pray that God will strengthen the few (mostly) isolated Christian converts living throughout the country. Praise God for the many listeners to Christian Radio. Pray for those involved in producing programmes that strengthen peoples resolve to follow Jesus.

Saturday 28th January - Iran

There is a new political situation and all members of the parliament are so-called hard-liners. This will increase pressure on the churches and may lead more to fall apart. When believers are forced to meet in small groups it makes it harder to reach them with faith resources. Pray against this disturbing trend.

Sunday 29th January - Iraq

Praise God that Arab and Kurdish believers meet together for prayer and worship. A miracle! Pray for the translation review under way of the Sourani-Kurdish Bible and pray that this will be in the hands of believers by 2007.

Monday 30th January - Iraq

Pray for unity between the historical and evangelical Churches. Pray also for the Standing Strong Through The Storm conference that will be held in February in the North of Iraq. Pray for good preperations and a safe journey for all those taking part.

Homefront

Pray for writer David Waite as he researches the persecution of Christians here in the UK. Pray for the contacts he makes and for wisdom as he deals sensitively with these issues.

O'God i pray for this muslim man and his family. I pray God, that you will open the eyes to his family that You are the True King o' mighty God. I pray that you will give this young muslim man the courage to say the right things to his family so that his family and he can join You God, in Your Kingdom!
I pray God that You will protect this young muslim and his family and i pray for in the future that his family will come to know You.
I also pray for Abiel's father. O' mighty God, everything through You is possible! And God i pray that You will heal Abiel's father and make him better and healthy. I pray God that You will take away Abiel's fathers illness and make him well.

Pray for Sister Deborah, who trains evangelists within her house church. She suspects that the police keep a very strict eye on her and she is therefore less able to spend time in the training of the evangelists. Pray that God will protect her and that she can quickly expand her work again.

Friday 3rd February - Sri Lanka

It has been over a year since the tsunami struck the shores of Sri Lanka. But a large number of those affected are still struggling to get back to normality. Please pray for the projects being carried out by the Evangelical Alliance in Sri Lanka, including provision of permanent shelter, livelihood and social care programmes.

Saturday 4th February - Indonesia

Praise God that in the strictly Islamic Banda Aceh, our co-workers are running a 'Standing Strong Through the Storm Seminar from 21 to 25 February. Pray for the safety of those taking part, and the speakers. Pray that all will be encouraged to repsond to persecution in a Christ-like way.

Sunday 5th February - Indonesia

Rebekka, Eti and Ratna are still in prison after their November appeal was rejected by the West Java High Court. This was so dissapointing for the three ladies so please pray that God woul comfort them and use them for his glory in the prison.
