Well the grill is warming up and I've got a huge plate of smoked sausages with peppers and onions ready to go. Anyone hungry?

We're smoked because there are lots of forest fires in the territory. We have been living in a smoky haze for about 2 weeks now, although I think it's a bit better today. We can actually see our local mountains again.

I love sparklers! It is a tradition for me and my younger cousins to light sparklers on the 4th! I have been doing it with them since they were babies. Now, when I show up for the family picnic, there first words are "Did you bring the sparklers???"

We got a brief respite from the smoke, but I noticed this morning that it has returned. I also heard on the news this morning that there are over 150 fires in the territory. The sun looks like an angry orange color.

I'm sorry, TCapp. It's been several years since we experienced bad forest fires here in WV, but I do remember how terrible the smoke was. It was everywhere, in houses and stores. I hope the fires will be extinguished very soon, both for the sake of the forests and for the people!
