  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The youth from Guildford Church of the Nazarene (Surrey) go back home tomorrow. You should see what W&W has done to our building! :clap: God bless you all for your hard work. I'll see if I can get my pastor to send some photos.

I got one photo of your buddies on the church steps. I didn't get one with me because my camera was dying. But I have a pic of me here, anyway, taken back in December.

And here's the photo I took this afternoon. I told them you said hi! We all had a potluck after church. :)

I am sooooo glad the last 2 weeks are over! I have survived..."Fun in the Sun", VBS, 4th of July and my daughter's 12th birthday (complete with a mini-sleepover-2 friends!). I'm pooped!
The pool has been a wonderful blessing this summer. The kids have gotten a lot more confident in the water. And I have been enjoying it on hot afternoons (yup, Moms are allowed to swim too!), even if it is only 3 1/2 ft deep :sigh: . At least it is cool.

As I said, the photo of me was taken in December. Also, it's a photo I tinkered with. I was actually in the house and then later added the background (a pic from my front yard).

The temp outside in the second photo would have been around 20°C. (A lot better than that 35°C we were suffering with a couple of weeks ago.)

Our VBS is in August. :) I'm sure it will wear us out, too, if we actually manage to get involved.

Well, where to start.

For a dish, I will probably bring either a green-bean casserole or some corn fritter casserole. (Providing my mother-in-law is willing to part with the recipe. ^_^ ) I all else fails, a couple of tubs of Publix's Southern Style Potato Salad.

For my history, I have been a member of the United Methodists for as long as I can remember. I attended the Grace United Methodist Church in Douglas, AZ for 12-years then. I was later confirmed as a Methodist at the Sierra Vista United Methodist Church in Sierra Vista, AZ. Unfortunately I have not attended for some time between 97 and early '04, but my wife and I have been attending a couple different churches that we'd like to become members of. Today, we attended the Mandarin United Methodist Church in Jacksonville, FL. I really liked it and would like to go back. I am hoping my wife's feelings are the same.

Hope I did not go off-topic on this. ^_^

I saw you said Dec, but I thought you might have snow up there in the territory even though it's the middle of summer. :D

That is a much better temprature. I like the °. I always want to use them, but never know where they are unless I can cut and paste them from something that already has them in it.

Hopefully, VBS is fun for you and the kids.

Welcome Kokopelli, :wave:

I'm not an official greeter or anything. I do like to say hi to new folks that I haven't met though, or seen in the forums. Maybe I just like using the waving smiley. Nawww. :D

This seems like the perfect place for you to have posted. My green bean casserole took some heat, when the pot luck first started, but it's been long ago consumed. I'm ready for some more. It's still one of my favorite pot luck dishes. I could even call it a meal unto itself. :yum:

Yeah, they helped out some folks from the Abbotsford church, too. Pastor Norm is so thrilled to have a straightened hallway and painted deck, etc.

Snow in the summer? :eek: Yikes!

* TCapp faints!

7 months of it is bad enough. :D

BTW, if you want the ° to show up, then hold down the "alt" key and type 0176. :)

Kokopelli:

I lived in AZ for many years (Yuma, that is). One of my former pastors had a son pastoring a Nazarene church there in Sierra Vista. :)

Seems gb casserole is a favorite everywhere. It is definely one of my favorite dishes. Now that I am hungry for it, I need to see about persuading the wife to make it one night with dinner. ^_^

@TCapp

'Tis a "small world after all." :D

It has been a good seven years since I left AZ, so I am trying to place were the Nazarene church was located. I think I went there once, with the youth group back in '93.

Just popping in to say hello! I have been under the weather for a few days. Still not quite up to par, yet. Looking around for some chicken noodle soup. Surely, there is some on the table somewhere, right?

"No soup for you!" :D

Here WV--a piping hot bowl of chicken noodle soup, just for you.

It is a rainy day here and I am not feeling all that well either. Nothing serious--just age, being female and a weird electrolye imbalance that has been plaguing me on and off for 4 years. Time for some more Gatorade. Cheers!

Thanks Celtie! It's yummy, just what I need. I have lived on Gatorade the last couple of days too! Thank goodness for the fruit punch flavor, I can't take much of the green one.
