Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I'm BAA-AACK!!!!

The weekend was great, but now I'm tired. We went on 2 hikes and both seemed to be up very steep hills.First we went to the plunge basin of the Linnville Falls in NC. Then today we hiked up the ridge at Massie Gap in the Grayson Highlands Park VA to see the wild ponies.

Pizza is here. Let's eat!

I have tried to post this twice, and I keep losing my post! I may have to switch to the Rant thread!

Thanks for your prayers, bigsierra! I survived, thankfully. :)

Our confirmation class was brought into the church yesterday. I was so proud when the youth I mentored took her vows. It was one of those glimpses into how awesome parenthood is. One of the youth was also baptized and bless her heart, she cried all the way through. Happiness through tears, what a great wonderful emotion!

TCapp, how are the kiddies? Better, I hope. I also hope you didn't not have to miss your service, as you feared.

Celtie, glad you are back safely and that you had a good time. I like to hike too, even though I don't get to go as much as I would like.

/me sits down a fresh fruit tray with some fruit dip.......

I knew you would :)

How very beautiful. It's great to see God mean so much to someone at this critical stage in her life. Thanks for sharing that.

Actually, they're still not too well :| (not too bad, either, considering). Unfortunately, the baby is coming down with it too, as I felt him and he was too warm, this afternoon. Yes, we missed the service. But we'll survive. :)

/me whips out the Rocky Road bars to share with everyone. :yum:

Can you pick up graham crackers, marshmallows and Hershey bars while you are there? We can refire the grill and make s'mores.

Will do, I can put it on DrBob's credit card (long story), he doesn't mind. Ok, here's the list so far:
Rocky Road ice cream
Graham crackers
marshmallows
Hershey's bars

Anything else?

Heh....this coming Sunday is when our group is confirmed. I've been working with them from the start and I hope I don't cry when they get confirmed!
Crying is good though! ;) It's been hard on me, even though I don't have kids, all these kids seem like my own because I had them in Sunday School when they were in the 1st and 2nd grade. Then to be apart of this decision with them, it's very......heart warming I guess is the word. We had one of them really nervous because his dad had him convinced after he was confirmed he had to stand up and give this big speech in front of the congregation about why he should be a member. We kept asking him if he had his speech ready! :D Payback for all the trouble he used to create for me in Sunday school......:p

TCapp, sorry to hear the kiddies are still not feeling well. Praying that they will be better soon.

*Sits down with wv's fresh coffee, pulls out crochet hook and yarn*

I'm wasting a bit of time waiting for today's laundry to be done so I can hang it up. My dryer is on the fritz (possibly for the last time, but it is 14 years old).
I only got 2 quarts of cherries off my trees this year. The kids have been picking raspberries for me. Need to get what I want for my freezer before 3 friends come and clean out what they want. Luckily I share well.
Just got a pattern off the net for a Rose Suncatcher--will be the perfect gift for my sister in-law this Christmas. Have to see if I have a 6-inch ring or if I have to buy one. I have the thread for it. My daughter would like me to make a red one for a friend of hers, too.

:( Now hubby is home sick. Stupid cold bugs. :sigh: Still, at least it isn't as bad as some illnesses have been.

I've been thinking we've been packing in a lot of sweets lately. So is anyone in the mood for some chef salad? There are all kinds of salad dressings and toppings are your disposal.

/me puts some Hidden Valley Ranch and croutons on her salad.

:yum:

Maybe we can have some of GCapp's vegetable supreme too. Invovles cauliflower, broccoli, onion, shredded cheese, cream of mushroom soup and some crumbled up croutons on top. :yum:
