  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

We needed a fellowship thread so here we go. I think the title befits what we, as Wesleyans, have in common. We can leave the ranting (and raving) for the Rant thread and come in here to chat.

Bring a covered-dish if you like...I usually bring macaroni & cheese when I attend. Come as you are, relax with friends and lets chat. If you want to share a testimony...great. If you want to tell us about yourself...great. We are family here.

Morning everyone. I pray that your day is going and will go great. May God richly bless each of you today.

I guess a little intro may be in order. My name is Dawn, I'm from slower, lower Delaware USA. I've been a christian most of my life. I grew up in the Methodist church, went to a Wesleyan church for a while and am now back to the church of my youth. I am an adult Sunday school teacher and the Sunday school Superintendent. I serve on the Administrative Council, Board of Trustees and am a member of the UMW. I am extremely addicted to CF! That means you'll see me around..a lot.

Okay, my name is Flora and I currently live near Bristol TN -- about 6 miles from the racetrack/dragstrip. I grew up in Northern NY where I was a member of the Methodist portion of a Meth/Presb congregation. Then I moved to south central PA and was a member of a UMC. While there I was active in chior and helped with a jr. youth group for 2 years. After moving to TN 8 yrs ago, my husband, who suddenly had Sundays free instead of having to work, decided we would attend a non-denom. He feels they are "closer to the first century ideal"--whatever that means. So first we were at a "church of Christ", but we left when a new preacher proved to be a jerk. (I do not like being refered to as "non-Christian" because I am from a denominational background). Now we are attending a "Christian" church, actually, my husband and son are members, but my daughter and I are not. (we were not baptized "right"). So, I am the rebel Methodist in their midst. I am so glad I have found a place to connect with other Methodists and Wesleyans. I finally feel at home.
Other than the husband and 2 kids, I also have two cats, a beagle and a bloodhound to take care of.

 to all.........could someone pass the coffee???

Hello, my name is Scott. I grew up in a holiness church called the "Church of God." When I was 13, we started attending a large Nazarene church, near our house, since they believe very similar doctrine. The Lord drew me close to him and to repentance, when I was in college. I have been a believer ever since. It hasn't been a perfect walk, with a long stint, with the Presbyterians theology. I'm now, in preparation to go through RCIA classes to join the Catholic Church. I kind of feel like I'm coming back to Wesleyan belief, since they are so similar, when it comes to justification and holiness/christian perfection, how sin is defined and dealt with by God.
Anyway, I would like to see this forum get a good start, because of the major part Wesley has played in my life and the things I still go back to.

May God bless this forum.

Good morning, again!

I have been out of town for the last several days, so I was off of the forums for a bit and surprised to see the changes made to PRE when I logged on to CF this morning. While I am glad to see a place where I can fellowship with my fellow Wesleyan brothers and sisters, I am saddened to see PRE disbanned because of the strife that went on in there.

*Sigh* Anyway I'll just pour myself a cup of coffee and have a helping of apple crisp and visit with everyone!

I live in southern WV, and I see not to far from Celticflower (probably a couple of hours). I go to Bristol to Hamrick's occasionally! :) Anyway, I have been a United Methodist the majority of my life. My dad came from the Church of the Brethern, my mom went to both the Baptist and Methodist church. I went to all three some when I was growing up, though mostly to the United Methodist. When I was about 11 or 12, we made the decision to become United Methodist and that is where I have been ever since.

I am pretty involved in my church. I serve on the Church Council and the Program Council. I work with our youth and do some work with the children. I taught children's Sunday school until this year. I have become involved with a local mission team, which I dearly love. I am also on our church's Puppet Team, which is a hoot! :)

Celtie-I am glad you have found a home with us!

I hope to get to know each one of you better and all of those who are yet to join us!

I'll bring tuna salad! hehe :)

I'm Jenn...and I've been part of a United Methodist church since I was in 4th grade...age 10. During my time there, we've had 4 pastors. I was confirmed about 2 months before my 12th birthday. I reaffirmed my faith 2 weeks before my 20th birthday.

In the past I had been the president of the youth group, youth representative to the Administrative Council, Jr. Choir member, Sr. Choir member, Sunday School teacher, and Chairperson of the Worship Committee.

Currently I am the Communion Steward, Education committee member, lay speaker, and I work with the confirmation class and youth group.

I'm also involved in the Disciple 1 Bible study and Sunday mornings I take care of my pastor's now 3 year old son while she leads worship.

:)

I really like it...but then again, my church started the first Disciple 1 class 4 years ago (that group is on Disciple 4 now) and I've been dying to take it ever since. They finally started a Sunday afternoon class that I could attend.

The reading isn't too bad for me, because I have a set devotional time for myself at night before I go to bed. So I do my reading for the class then. I think some of the most overwhelming stuff was the first few chapters when we were reading so much of Genesis. The one thing that helped me with this was that the Scripture class I was taking at school was also going through Genesis at the same time...so I was reading Genesis for both.

I think what also helps, at least for me (since normally I'm shy), is the group of people in my class. It's small (5 of us plus our leader). And I'm real comfortable with the people I'm in the class with. I think about the group that's on Disciple 4 now, and some of them I'd be comfortable sharing the stuff I've shared...but others I might not be.

I grew up Nazarene and about four other denominations...but primarily Nazarene.

While I am Catholic, I'd never give up my Protestant roots for anything, in terms of familiarity with the Bible and fervent spirit for our Savior...

And of course, I'm bringing' Krispy Kremes to this little party up in here... ;)

*Brings Mashed Potatoes to the party.*

My name is Jeremiah. I am 15 years old and a Free Methodist. My dad is the pastor of the church. We just moved here last summer and are pretty happy. I go to the youth group and participate in some of the activities. I like CF even though I don't seem to have as many posts a day as some people.

Good morning all. Thought I would drop by before church. We don't have a dinner after church or any this week...sad.

I pray all the Mothers have a wonderful day today. If you're not a mother, I pray your day is wonderful as well.

May God's rich blessing fall down on you today.

I'm making a pot of coffe for later when we get back from church. Maybe we can fellowship then.

Hi Everybody! Hope you all had a nice weekend!

Mother's Day was nice for me. I was treated to breakfast in bed and a picnic lunch at the park followed by a splash in the creek.

But by far the best part of the day was right before the worship service. A young friend of mine is expecting her first baby (her hubby is the youth pastor). She has been having a tough time emotionally because her mom doesn't live close enough to share the experience. I know what it is like-I was pregnant in PA, my mom lived in NY. I had promised to make her a baby blanket, and since it was done, told her I would bring it on Mother's Day. I did not tell her about all the other goodies I'd put in with it tho' :D . Along with the blanket the baby got: a stuffed zebra rattle, a tube of diaper rash cream and a bottle of soothing baby wash. The Mom got: a copy of 1Corinth:13 (for Moms), the book,"Little Life lessons for Mothers" with a Mother's Love Cross crocheted bookmark, a box of chamomile tea, tea mug and crocheted doily/coaster, a lilac scented jar candle and a nursing shawl made out of a super soft yarn in her favorite color. Almost made her cry and she said I had certainly made her day.

Now my husband is putting together a basket for the daddy-to-be for Father's Day. So far he has--safety goggles, rubber gloves and a clothespin (you can tell where this is going can't you).

Celtie, how very nice of you to be her "surrogate" momma. You put a lot of thought and time on her presents. I'm sure she'll never forget it.

My oldest daughter had recently moved away from home, she came back home for dinner yesterday. I've missed her even though it's only been a few days. Ah, kids grow up so soon.

I pray you all have a blessed week!

/me brings in Beef Noodle Bake and some Nanaimo bars.

Howdy. Tammy here. I was introduced to the Nazarene church by my friends when I was 5+ years old. Well, actually, they got me interested in God and Christianity, period. Their father was the pastor of a Nazarene church, and that's what I associate with best.

I had a very lousy mother's day, as I was in bed with hurting guts and a fever (stupid stomach flu!) I'm still trying to recover. :sigh:

Growing up as a kid of active UMC parents, I attended every pot luck the church ever held. When I grew up, I took a vow that I would go to Church but I wasn't going to anymore covered dish dinners.

I confess that I have back slid occasionally along the way, but pretty much try to avoid them like the plague.

So, I may hang out among you, but I am not eating the green bean casserole. Please forgive me! :sorry:
