  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

My dish is feeling a bit shunned :(

Nothing personal, BigSierra! I'm sure you are one of the good cooks carrying in a dish. We Methodists have to stand up for principles and one of mine is to avoid pot lucks!

Back when I used to attend them, I made great sport out of knowing who the good cooks were in the church and who the not so good cooks were. Good or bad cook, I always wanted to know who brought what  so I could either dig in  or steer clear of certain dishes :o

Popping in to say hi to everyone! Hope you all are having a good day! :) I just finished some mandatory First Aid training today. So if anybody gets choked, I gotcha covered! (Hopefully that won't happen!)

I'll have to second the no green beans. Sorry, bigsierra. ;) A few years ago when the President (the first Bush?) decided he wasn't going to eat broccoli anymore, I decided if the President didn't have to eat broccoli, I didn't have to eat green beans. I am not sure why I don't care for them, I just don't. Oh well. One of those weird things I guess. I also don't like milk on my cereal......

I was feeling kinda silly this seems a good place to intro myself to everyone who comes here.

:first I am bringing some homemade banana pudding:
HUm banana pudding *girggle*

Anyway I gre up in the Naz church. I had a short time of going to a carismatic church during college. I have only been a member of the UMC for a year but I am in love. I am a member of the church board, on our praise team, I am a local layspeaker, and I have been working very closley with my pastor in planning our Church's 150th anniversey. We already had a homecomming where we celebrated our 75, 50 and 25 year members. Very exciting ^_^ the bishop over Iowa will be presiding over our service on September 19. :D :D :D .

I really like it...but then again, my church started the first Disciple 1 class 4 years ago (that group is on Disciple 4 now) and I've been dying to take it ever since. They finally started a Sunday afternoon class that I could attend.

The reading isn't too bad for me, because I have a set devotional time for myself at night before I go to bed. So I do my reading for the class then. I think some of the most overwhelming stuff was the first few chapters when we were reading so much of Genesis. The one thing that helped me with this was that the Scripture class I was taking at school was also going through Genesis at the same time...so I was reading Genesis for both.

I think what also helps, at least for me (since normally I'm shy), is the group of people in my class. It's small (5 of us plus our leader). And I'm real comfortable with the people I'm in the class with. I think about the group that's on Disciple 4 now, and some of them I'd be comfortable sharing the stuff I've shared...but others I might not be.
I missed this Jenn-I'm sorry! I have taken all 4 but I had a different group each time. We didn't have to stick with the same group and it was offered at different days and times, so you just sorta picked what day and time worked best for you. I have also taken the Christian Believer study. I really, really liked that one. I think I bonded more with the group that I took that one with. The study was really intense and I think it hit closer to home with me. I am looking forward to the next in the series, I think it is a study on the life of Jesus.

That's okay! :)

Our church I guess is kind of small...so the groups stay the same throughout the studies. There's always been a Bible study on Tuesday nights (when I worked 3rd shift I was part of it) but right after I got moved to 2nd shift they started Disciple. So the Tuesday night group (it's usually about 6-10) started Disciple. Then there was a Wednesday night group the following year who started Disciple 1 while Tuesday went on to 2.

I hope I stay with the same group of people for Disciple 2...just because I'm so comfortable with them. Some of the things I share I don't like to share a lot.

We had 68 in church. 38 of them were regular folks, the other 30 were family members (children, grandchildren, and even great-grandchildren) that came because mom brought them. At the end of the message before communion, the Lord moved me to offer a brief simple explanation of the Gospel message and offer a call for salvation. I had four people respond to the invitation by looking up at me during prayer. The Lord is doing a work among His people, and it's exciting to be in the middle of it!

 praise God from whom all blessings flow. It is great to hear people responding to a call to salvation. I pray this is just the beginning for you and your church.:prayer:

That's the stuff!! :)

:yum: YUMMY! :D

My mom sometimes makes it now with the cheddar flavored onion topping stuff. That's not too bad either.

Hehe, thanks for trying it. I will have to try the cheddar flavor sometime. I can eat the stuff as a main dish.
