  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

When I was in college and attended a church potluck, I actually got away with bringing a nicely-arranged plate of uncooked pop-tarts . . . taken out of the bags of course . . .

Any objections?

BTW, I'm SuperTaz (Zach to my buds), and I'm new here! I hail from Texas where I am an English teacher. I hope to meet some good friends here! Talk to you soon folks!
At least you contributed. I must confess that my roommate and I figured out which churches in town had potluck on the 1st Sunday, 2nd Sunday, 3rd Sunday.... you get the idea. We made sure we went to whichever church had food that week. It sure beat SAGA dining hall food.

For example, when I was in college, I used to run out of almost everything fairly regularly. Then I would wind up making a concoction of butter and sugar or something and eating that. I'm still not above eating pretty weird things if driven to it by a desire to avoid the grocery store! ;)

Does anyone else intensely dislike shopping for groceries? I always seem to put it off, and then wind up with not much in the house to eat. I can't quite figure out why I put it off so much.

Mostly I strongly dislike going to the grocery store, but then other times when I drag out my really nice cookbooks and I plan elaborate menus I enjoy grocery shopping - smelling and touching all the green and other colors of produce, talking to the butcher, etc. However, that's only about once a month or so, the rest of the time it's just a pain to go to the store! :)

The only thing I dislike about doing the groceries is paying the bill! I spend at least $150.00 a week at the store to feed a family of 4. Luckily, one of the local stores has started running alot of 10 for $10 specials on stuff like frozen veggies or better yet 10 for $5 on canned goods. I love to stock up the pantry and the freezer this way. I'm waiting for their chicken special to show up again. Chicken leg quarters for about $0.20 a lb.

Actually I like shopping except when I am hungry. I enjoy walking up and down isles and "people watching" as well as planning out what I am going to eat for that week. However, if I am hungry I hate shopping. Everything I look at seems good and I keep seeming to get hungier and hungrier.
