The OP title does not reflect the subject matter. And, TX has had a similar law for years to no ill effect.

I've read the entirely of the link posted concerning situations that permit crossing the red light.

It's a reasonable rule - to a reasonable driver. However, some might see that as a huge problem which is a valid concern too. Depends on the average driving attitude in the region the rule is in effect. Good for some regions, bad for some. It may not be wise to implement this rule everywhere.

It would be absurd to implement this rule universally and would only reflect the moral decay of our society.

The road laws is often case of this where you can cause a fatal accident for example and be let off lightly.

UT and TX implementing this is not really the same as "everywhere".

Kant's categorical imperative sucks. (j/k)

ETA: I should add that perhaps the reason TX's law hasn't had major effects is most drivers aren't even aware of it. IME, most people I talk to haven't heard of it.

So, atheists do justify this Red Lights driving suicide?

I am not talking about ambulance or police or firefighters.
Or people taking a kid having a seizure to the emergency room?

With all these caveats, "never be violated" morphs into "should rarely be violated".

Ironically, under certain conditions (very similar to rules in the link) , I already cross the red light - during very low traffic (rural or off hours / Sunday mornings), very few vehicles on the road. Of course, very carefully, slower than usual. Making sure there are no vehicles crossing less than a couple hundred of meters (from all directions) and no pedestrians crossing. I wouldn't dare do this in busier hours.

Where I live it's common to find a relatively busy but "uncontrolled" intersections (no traffic light, no road markings, no one controlling the flow).

So I'm used to such driving where crossing intersections is left to your disgression. Everyone does it where I live. Even my driving instructor made sure I nailed the process. Been doing it for over 20 years. Tricky stuff. May not be safe for everyone who isn't trained for such ruleit.

The principle counts. The principle is "do not cross red line (lights)". This principle must never be violated.

Even Jesus violated the Sabbath day rule.

There are rare situations where following the rule becomes absurd or unreasonable, do more harm than good.

Yes, they are free to cross the red lights, but they will pay the bill, because they violated the law.

If you demonstrate to a judge, you ran a red light because of a medical emergency, i guarantee you, they toss the ticket out. Furthermore, a cop who pulls you over for the same, will also let you go and possibly provide an escort.

What about the NFL player in Dallas who got pulled over? The cop wrote him a ticket right there in the ER parking lot. While his mom died. He was not there.
yeah, ego maniac bully idiot cops tend to do this. I saw that video,

I saw a similar video of a white woman who was speeding to the hospital. Streets were relatively clear, she was doing 65mph in a 45mph. Cops had been "chasing her" for about 2 minutes. She pulled over, crying and said, "My mom is in the hospital, they said she is dying can you escort me to the hospital..."

Cop didn't care, he ordered her out of the car, she's crying and begging the whole way... but he didn't care, threw her in the back seat, took her to jail. Meanwhile, her mom died.

90% of the time yes, but you do occasionally run into ego maniac bully cops who don't care and will purposefully delay you to 'teach you a lesson about speeding'.

I saw another video of a woman, she was speeding on her way to work. Get's pulled over and the woman is frantic and said, "I'm sorry I was speeding, I'm late to work and if I'm late again I will be fired. Can you please hurry up and write me the ticket, I got 15 minutes to get there and if I leave now I'll make it in time."

The cop purposefully kept her there for 20 minutes until she is in tears crying and begging for him to just let her go. He is looking at his watch the whole time, just waiting and says, "This will teach you not to speed anymore..." He kept her there until he got a call for something else THEN he wrote her the ticket and let her go.

it was disgusting. There was no need for that
