Sad to hear, both my sisters and my mother don't like feminism. They want equality but they share my views that modern feminism often fails at that.

Although my father is probably more of a white knight.. although yeah he's conservative.. although he's not obnoxious about it.

Sony... Before there was Warner Bros. destroying comic book movies there was Sony. They aquired the rights for a Spider-Man movie from Marvel. This was before the MCU and comic book movies really took off. They had the most famous Marvel superhero at the time.

They hired Sam Raimi to direct the movie and it was a big hit with critics and fans. Sam Raimi then followed that up with Spider-Man 2 which was an even bigger hit with critics and fans.
Even today some people who have seen Spider-Man: Homecoming say they like these two movies better.
IT WAS ALMOST AS IF SAM RAIMI KNEW WHAT HE WAS DOING! But noooo, you couldn't leave it alone could you Sony? You had to stick your foot in it. You couldn't just let the artist work could you?

For Spider-Man 3 Sony wanted Venom in it cause he was really popular with the fans. Sam said he didn't understand the character and just wanted Sandman as the main villian and to end Harry Osborn's story arc. This would have been the smart thing to do but it's Sony we're talking about here. They insisted and Sam Raimi did as he was told. So we got emo Peter Parker for some reason and this scene:

It made for some great memes but a not so great movie. It got lukewarm reviews from critics and fans.

After that Sam Raimi started planning Spider-Man 4. He said it would be the best Spider-Man yet! He said it would make up for Spider-Man 3! So what do you do Sony?! You cancel Spider-Man 4! Then you do the next worst thing and reboot the series! So now we get to see a story that's already been told, again and we get to see Uncle Ben die for a second time, only this time the movie will be 'darker' and 'more grounded'.

They hired a guy name Marc Webb who was probably chosen because of his last name.

Sony exec 1: "How about this guy named Marc Webb?"

Sony exec 2: "His last name is Webb! HE'S PERFECT!"

The movie wasn't bad. It wasn't great either. Peter parker started of already a pretty cool guy which takes away a part of what people liked about the character. Also the suit was the worst looking in the series and still looked manufactured.

For the next Amazing Spider-Man movie Sony decided to go with three villians again, cause we all know how well that worked out the last time...

Something truly amazing happened during my viewing of The Amazing Spider-man 2... I started to fall asleep! I fell asleep in a Spider-Man movie! A SPIDER-MAN MOVIE!!! THAT SHOULD NOT HAPPEN! EVER!
It was only for a little while though and I managed to catch Hans Zimmer's cringy Electro dub-step score.
I saw the Peter's Parents subplot completely ruin Spider-Man's origin. I saw the terrible new Green Goblin design. I also didn't like the spidey suit. People say it was the best one but I thought they used the wrong material. The red was too dark and silky. It's like Peter Parker stole some rich guy's pyjamas and made his suit out of it.

People who saw the trailer saw the part were Spiderman swings a manhole cover towards Rhino, so people waited for months to see what happens next. They expected an epic rhino vs Spiderman showdown.

Finally the movie was released and the part where Rhino finally shows up starts. This is the part were the audience is like "YEAH, BOI, YEAH!!!" So what happens? THE MOVIE ENDS! IT ENDS!! SO BASICALLY PEOPLE WAITED MONTHS TO SEE A SCREEN TURN BLACK AND THE CREDITS ROLL!! SONY YOU......

Not suprisingly fans hated it and it was a box office failure. So now we are left with one almost great trilogy and one unfinished trilogy.

You'd think Sony would have learned from all this but no. After all this Sony still insists on making Spiderman movies. Marvel is like "We got this." but Sony can't seem to let it go.
Sony, all you have to do is sit back and let Marvel do all the work and watch the money roll in but for some reason you insist on trying to make Spiderman movies. Sony please stop ruining movies.

Nerd Rage disengaged.

.....Anyway, Spider-Man: Into The Spiderverse looks pretty neat.

Reading about an Australian soap opera on Wikipedia.

"Frost's casting attracted criticism from individuals in the acting community, but she was defended by current and former Home and Away stars. She also received death threats on social media from fans who were unhappy that her character was involved in Kat's death."

So people in real life sent an actress death threats because a fictional character she was portraying killed off another fictional character?

Home and Away fans aren't exactly potential mensa members. They're watching a show that has been recycling the same plots for over 20 years.

As an aside - you got me interested enough to look up the wiki entry and I came across this...

Jasmine is characterised as "a spirited Aussie girl with a zest for life and a big heart."[1] She is initially "quite guarded" and anxious, as she hides a "dark past".

...and I'm thinking - that's pretty much the backstory of literally EVERYONE ON THE SHOW! :swoon: ^_^

Yes, I know that a bigger pack works out cheaper pro rata and that if I buy two of that other item then I'll be saving money on the combined price. But if I wanted to buy those I would have done. I'm just buying for myself, and I don't want more because I won't get through it.
