oh well.
i suppose we can just trust the mods to be more vigilant with the derailers now that its been brought to their attention.

I wouldn't want to do their job with ppl complaining just because they don't like a post topic or don't get along with someone all the time.

Off topic rant: why do people say things they don't mean- in order to make you believe the opposite of what they actually want?

Because, haven't you heard!? *whispers* Tis the way of the world! :tongueclosed:

Seriously, though... I have no idea either. <--- unnecessary stress.

i don't know, its confusing.
I call a spade a spade. Maybe they just read the thesaurus too much and got mixed up with synonyms and antonyms. I don't know!

I do think some ppl forget we are christians here.

If theres no spiritual difference between a believer and non believer, which extends to the way we live life, then we wouldnt be here.

Its like the man looking in the mirror and then forgetting hes a christian like James says.

What I'm about to rant about is a strictly First World Problem.

I would like to rant about light bulbs.

I realize that, in an effort to improve energy-efficiency and to protect our spherical damsel-ever-in-distress, Mother Earth, the traditional incandescent bulb is being phased out. That, in and of itself, is not a problem.

However, it seems that the alternatives are plastered with all these warnings about their handling and the likelihood of them shattering at random. The CFL type contains mercury (weren't traditional thermometers being discouraged because they contained that?), and another option, the Halogen, must not be handled by the bulb portion (which makes installation that much more complicated, depending on the fixture). Sure, the planet might be better off for it, but its inhabitants potentially take the hit on the individual (and more immediate) level. It seems the hazard-factor has simply been reallocated, rather than eliminated.

The whole thing leaves me wanting to just buy candles and really get back to basics. Sure, those contain hazards too -- like, y'know, fire -- but at least they offer a more romantic ambience in the meantime. And you can drop one without spreading glass and poisonous substances all over. And they don't explode because you touched the wrong part.

Okay, rant done. :)

Death.. I hate it how we're all going to die.

We're here for no reason, and we feel some nice chemicals and experience this strange cosmos then we're out light a candle. It's like.. "what the heck?"

Some people live happy lives, and others are only born to be slaves and serve others. They're not here, then they are here and experience misery and horror then they're gone forever, never knowing why or more accurately "how"?

If that were the case, I would create and demand a meaning. I would be brave and fight against my eternal destiny of nothingness, and instead demand from the universe that there be a place of eternal love. I would live life soley in love, and pursue love and it's experiences, pursue the best things of life that really fill one's soul, and than approach death with a challenge - approach death saying "this is what I have in my hands" and see what death has in his.
Death, having nothing, would lose against me, having everything.

I'm not sure how one can demand a meaning. I'm not really bent out of shape over it, I just find the realization of it startling.

What is eternal love? I guess I never really understood people's fascination with the concept of love. I had my own spiritual leanings when I was a Christian and it wasn't love. Lol.

Than you didn't know the meaning of Christianity altogether. You aren't alone of course, and it's understandable you would miss the meaning considering how everyone stresses other aspects instead of the main aspect.

Jesus spoke poetically, purposely leaving out some things so that life itself could be poetic imo. He never said "love is the meaning of life" but he inferred it many times, in my eyes, and i see his teachings and parables reflecting that.

Every truly happy moment in life has an aspect of love to it. Being with family, friends, being in nature and experiencing God's love, etc.

What is love to you?

I think love is a form of empathy, and I do think you can over-clock it especially when you can connect the empathy of love to an invisible all encompassing empathy like the concept of a God. Fine and all, I just had other forms of empathy to play around with, although I guess its debatable if some of those forms of empathy where indeed a type of love.

Well, there's loving someone. As in, having an altruistic and empathetic and trusting relationship with someone, give or take 1 of the attributes because sometimes you love someone but don't trust them. Than there's loving someone as in, doing something charitable to strangers, or having compassion and sympathy for someone. Love can be choosing to do the right things to people, choosing not to hurt them, choosing to help them, etc. Love can be heavily induced by emotions, or even at times robotically doing something because you have no emotional attachment but you seek to do "the right thing" anyway.

So there's different definitions to love. But always, it has a selfless aspect to it.

Ah. Alright. Maybe the definition of love would somewhat fit in with my spiritual outlook.

I find many people miss the point of what Jesus came for, who Jesus came for..and so they don't actually believe who He is AND what He did.

They might see christians being kind to each other and try to copy but without that spiritual understanding, they are lost.

Dang it, people, STOP TELLING ME TO JOIN THE MILITARY!

Yes, I may live in a military town but this is not frickin' Sparta. I'm quite happy working at a recycling depot with co-workers that like to laugh with me rather than work a job where a bunch of arrogant air force morons on a high protein diet will yell and curse at me. They're not an aristocratic warrior caste, they're just a bunch of idiots who repair fighter jets and do squat all while everyone else is fighting in Afghanistan.

I'm unfit for military service and I don't believe in armed conflict. If you all want to kill each other because that was the kind of entertainment you grew up with then more power to you. Just leave me out of it and let me enjoy my own life serving a God who detests what this world values.

You know what the sad part is? A good portion join the Military just for college, because they can't even afford it on their own. Lord knows I can't.

I was eating out one time and my grandfather was with me. He was a veteran of the Navy, serving for over 20 years. Anyway, our server was recently out of the military and talked to him about it. I was in college and the time and the guy told me about how great the military was because you don't have to decide what you're going to do, eat, wear, etc. I thought "that sounds like the worst life imaginable."
