OCD is destroying my faith... HELP!

i take,Seraquel Abilify,Paxal,and Adderall...and it works by the GRACE OF GOD,wonders for my OCD!

Is cbt for OCD or is exposure therapy? Yes I did join the group has a 24 hour acceptance period. I guess with ghosts I can see them in pictures. I can hear them on tape. I know what you were saying about the love people feel when there dying makes complete sense. Still I can't believe. Why would God make doubters that wanted to believe.

Raven, both can be used for ocd, but it has to be for you and your therapist to try both to determine which will work best for you, Plus you would have to see which if you will need meds in conjunction with therapy too.

Im a little confused about this, but arent the seraphim the highest order of cherub? I actually just became a part of this forum because I have been reading for the past hour and a half about the worries you have, and I have had them all as well. I have read most of your posts, and let me start by saying that I am OCD as well and have (and sometimes still do) struggle with the same things. I have read much of the advice people have given you and Raven, and it is very good advice. Let me say something as well (please take this into account) OCD will attack what you hold most dear. For a Christian what you hold most dear is God and your faith in Him and your salvation. OCD will attack those things. These worries you have are all OCD. There is no difference between OCD worrying and non-OCD worrying- all worrying is wrong and it's all the same. Trust me on this one.

But here is what else I have to say, and this is the most important:You must spend time with God in His Word. You must spend time reading His Word! Doing this will help you more than anything else. Also, you need to find a church, Christians are meant to function in one body, we need other Christians and we need pastors who can help us in our relationship with God. Pray that God will lead you to the right church.
Understand this WorriedOne, my brother and I have gone through (and sometimes still do) this same way of thinking. But listening to things that other people have to say won't fix it. What has majorly helped both me and my brother is spending time in the Word of God! Ask God to lead you by His Spirit as you read, and ask Him to reveal His Truth through His Word. Remember this: OCD lies to your mind and attacks what you love. Do not believe the thought that says you aren't saved, because I have seen your pattern of thought here in this forum and I know that it is from your OCD. It is not the truth! I know because I have felt the exact same way. I pray that this helps.

Here's some more specific advice. Read the Psalms. They have been a HUGE help to my brother and I who have had the EXACT SAME doubts as you. You will see how the Psalmist often feels like you, he feels helpless and down like there's no way out, but he trusts in God (it's a choice, not a feeling!) and God rescues him. Memorize the verses that you find in there that relate to you. Here's one that I relate with a lot: (Psalms 61:1-3) "Hear my cry, O God, listen to my prayer; from the end of the earth I call to you when my heart is faint. Lead me to the rock that is higher than I, for you have been my refuge, a strong tower against the enemy."

I'll bet you feel the same way. You are calling to God and you feel faint and weak like you are drained. Now what you need is to ask God to lead you to the Rock that is higher than you, which is God. Rest in Him. Trust me, I have felt the same way, and I know that you are a believer just by what I have seen you say, even though you might not have noticed it. Don't worry if you're saved or not: you are saved and you need to realize that it is God who has saved you, not your own strength. None of us can save ourselves. We are not saved by how much we believe, that would be from our own strength; we are saved because God has loved us so much that he adopted us as sons to be His heirs! You are not going to lose your salvation, listen to this from Romans 8: 38-39 "For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord."
Dude, think about how awesome that is! Nothing can separate us from God's love, not even ourselves! God has adopted you as His child, He is holding onto you and He will never let go. Not now, not for all eternity.

So my brother in Christ, I hope that you take this advice. Spend time reading the Scriptures (if you don't know how long to read for, try reading His Word for twenty minutes for now). Also, find a godly church to attend (pray that God leads you to a church that honors Him and is where He wants you).

I feel I can't know if I am in unbelief or this is OCD. Uncertainty is hard to deal with.

To put things into perspective my OCD actually full on wrecked my relationship with God and my faith. Within a year of becoming a spirit filled charismatic my faith was completely totalled because of it. I cannot have a relationship with God because of it and it hurts like hell. But there you have it. Im not belittling your problems im just trying to show you that it could be worse and youve done really well!

I had trouble seperating my compulsions and obsesssions from the voice of God. I couldnt and cant seperate the two. It would be extremely traumatic and it became so severe that I had no choice but to throw in the towel. I should have just pushed it but I didnt.
My OCD was and is religious or at least superstitious in nature so anything religions became a trigger.

Oh I am sorry to hear that.

In the case where someone has compulsions to perform certain actions in order to delay impending doom for example walking a certain way home to avoid a loved one dying or even reading a page of a book 3 times to avoid going to hell, there is only one real solution if meds dont work. In my case I just shut down. I had to redefine the voice of God as my conscience. All other considerations became moot.
So when I would be in church and the pastor made the "healing call" 100% of the time I would have a compulsion to go to to the front to be prayed over. Is that me or God? Impossible to tell and for an Evangelical there are few worse fates. The voice of OCD with its intrusive thoughts takes on a life of its own. You have god telling you to minister to the woman across the road or else he'll punish you for instance.

My advice would be to resist no matter what and to keep on doing so even if ocassionally due to chance your fears come true. This is next to impossible and I couldnt do it myself but aside from the traditional SSRI tabs it is the only real method of assuaging the compulsions

Now that im agnostic I still have compulsions and of late theyve gone into overdrive. Theyre between delusions and compulsions really and thats the only reason they have such power over me. Its a combination of actually believing that something terrible will happen if the compulsion isnt satisfied and actually feeling that irresistible urge.

If you have OCD you are fine. If I don't and this is my unbelief is what scares me.

I didnt read the entire thread so im lacking that insight into your exact situation but I will say that unbelief is an inescapable part of faith. All the great religious figures struggled with it from the apostles to Corey ten boom. Thats why belief and faith are valued so highly they are incredibly difficult to attain if not impossible through human effort alone - its a divine gift if I remember correctly - something which is comes from an external source
