Trump's statements were used as laughing points, and he never started making sense, and he's the president of the United States.

There is an incredible level of irony in watching a bunch of people who's leader proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that the whole "surely you can't be serious" defense failed utterly when used against them think it will some how miraculously work for them.
