  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

All new seats in the house for Pro-life dems. And pro-life dems (I think) lost no seats. And all seats that were contested between a pro-life Democrat and a Republican went to a pro-life candidate.

Those seats means arguably 31 pro-life dems in the house. That means that 218 needed for a majority but there are 222 non-prolife votes. But...in that there are about 10 that can go either way even before some of the backroom dealing starts. That means 212 left. That is below the 218 needed to pass pro-choice legislation strongly. And above the 218 needed in coalition to pass the Pregnant Women Support Act that can potentially draw even more than that because it has support from across the aisle.

Now with some undecided races those numbers might change 1-3 but they are still solid...if we write our reps and fight.

i was watching an interview last night of a woman that was being interviewed for some local news channel, not local to me, and she was asked who did she vote for, she said Obama, the reporter ask why, she says that her son is in Iraq, and that he said he is going to end the war so her son can come home. She said that is what every parent wants right?

Now, i know he said he was going to pull the troops out of Iraq, which is cool, but didn't he say he was going to place the troops in Afghanistan? I don't recall him saying he was going to end the war?

A war only ends when the enemy is subdued, or if someone surrenders, otherwise the enemy continues to attack.

Anybody got any good politacl jokes? Here!

Q: You know what the problem with political jokes is, don't you?
A: They get elected.

There's one thing the Democrats and Republicans share in common: Our money.

A little girl asked her father, "Daddy? Do all Fairy Tales begin with 'Once Upon A Time'?"

He replied, "No, there is a whole series of Fairy Tales that begin with 'If elected I promise.......'."

Anyway, I think Barrack Obama is going to be a great president. I think pro-life people will be surprised on how he comes down on the side of pro-life issues, now that he is president.

I've read his books, and learned about him, before he announced his candidacy for president. There is a greater man than what the campaign rhetoric painted him as.

I pray for his success as president. His success will be America's success.

Jim

Do you think now that he is in that he was actually just blowing smoke about FOCA, appointing lib judges to the SC to abate any change to RvW, reversing the partial birth abortion ban or making tax payers pay for abortions and even infanticide.

I know politicians are renowned for appearing to not really mean what they say or simply being ineffective in following though with what they promise on the campaign trail for various reasons after an election.

If any one of those things mentioned above take place though it will be another nail in the coffin for human dignity and the right to life don't you think?

I don't know which is worse, hoping he was just lying to get elected, or is now in office so delusioned on this most grave issue. No matter if he is a great president in every other area, this one will be a dark cloud over his head. Lets pray his heart is changed to see the real small man is also just an embryo.

Everyone on the Military side agrees with him on bolstering Afghanistan (at least until Bin Laden could be brought to justice). There is one big problem though, we are out of troops and the force that is there is exhausted among other issues like the independence of that country. Whats in place there is working, it just isn't getting Bin Laden or eliminating the threat as well as it could with a greater presence there.

The real test here will be for the pro-life democrats. They have gained power over the last few years. They are pausing the Pregnant Women Support act...they are opposing the FOCA. They forged an interesting relationship with Obama with hopes of moderating his views.

We do not have an ideal world. But if the pro-life Democrats and the Republicans willing to work with them stand together on these two issues as well as approving judges... there is hope. Not only for stopping abortion but also for implementing many other points of Catholic social doctrine.

It is not ideal. But it is an option we have now.

Interesting. Just a thought, maybe Republicans should change their party to the pro-life Dems now to get the inside track and at least be on the same side of the isle. If something could be done about legislating from the bench I think it would be a better world.

that woman may be disappointed when she learns her son will be restationed rather than sent home.
