  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I just saw the speech! It was lovely! Did anybody else? He got over 300 electoral votes. McCain didn't get 200!And to my suprise, Obama won Florida! Whoda thunk? Now hopefully we can end this war, fix the economy and get back to being fat and happy Americans. For those of us pro-lifers, don't sweat it! God is in control and as long as we can keep up the good fight of faith, we will win for the innocent!

While the election of a mulatto (he is half european half african) to the White House is truly a historican event,
I'm realy scared, not only for FOCA wish I hope the conservative dems put a stop on it but of foreing policy and trade.
Demoscrats opose the Free Trade Agreements with my country and several countries in Latinamerica. Obama ran on opposing or revising those treaties.
That is bad for us down here. Also it will put a lot of presure on US on tax policy joining Europe. The Reeps were far more friendly in that. I even met US presidential advisors Ted Olsen and Ed Meese on that. Now that is lost. We expect pressure now.
So I'm a bit worried that trade and investment in Latinamerica will slow down during a Obama presidency. That win in Ohio tells us that.

I hope more moderate Democrats can moderate him but looking at the outcome in the Congress I'm pessimistic. Expect more antiamericanism coming from unlikely souces.

Also Obama will probably continue the romantic views of comunists in Latinamerica that the democrats usually have. That means more pressure on Colombia to make INSTANT progress on human rights instead of the progresive way of the Reeps. That might empowers the FARC just when the Gov was wining and prolong the war there and the drug trafficking.
And Chavez most likely will get a free hand.
Insteresting times are coming.
And for the Chinese that was a curse. I see Obama as Carter on steroids.

Remember peeps - when they persecute you and want to kill you. Do not resist.
If they hate Christians - let them martyr you.

O anyway - yea he won.
Jeff - ya want to move to another country with me - or maybe the moon. I hear the air is slightly thin.
But it has potential.

This is a joke right?

I despair for the African American babies who are in utero right now and are currently the most vulnerable lambs in the abortion slaughter. In America, every other black baby that is conceived is murdered by abortion.

There have been 15 million black babies killed by abortion in America since 1973. Blacks would still be the biggest minority in the USA if so many hadn't been killed by this policy.

On the other finger (I won't give it a full hand), I understand the implications that electing Obama president will have on the psyche of the nation and even the world. I am glad that people will understand finally that anything IS possible in America.

To be honest I'm not surprised that the Reeps lost. The misshandling of the war in Irak and the economy was enough to make them loss. I'm appalled at the radicalism of Obama that is my trouble. I'm also troubled by the fact there is a element of vengace on Obamas voter.
My cousin who lives between Pennsylvannia and Florida, two states were Obama won is a gun collecting alfuent caucasican hispanic married to a German american penn woman who set his kids to a Catholic highschool and have a Amish maid. And he voted for Obama saying that "he is tired of minorities being mistreated in the USA". And he is a big seller for a construction company.
I wonder how the element of "lest take revenge on not only Bush but also Reagan and white people" influenced many Obama supporters.

Just saying..............

I hope all stop to remember PRAYER is more powerful then casting stones!

Politicians always were and always will be Politicians...No matter what party it is they will make all kinds of promises until the shoe is on their foot.

So all who feel this is a victory, be careful it may bite you in the butt...

I hope that Americans will come together and move forward with our new President. I was pleased at the tenor and tone of John McCain's speech. In his SNL stint and tonight, he seemed so much like the old John McCain I had admired and respected, before the Republican Party tried to force all the maverick out of him.

I hear that tonight the Republican Party is reevaluating its message, which obviously failed to reach many demographic groups, including Hispanics, blacks, and youth.

I think that now, since Senator Obama has been elected President, the Church may need to have to evaluate its message, too....

The USCCB Document is good. It is quintessentially American in that it lays out all the facts and trusts Catholics to make wise, educated decisions.

The "one-sentence version" of the USCCB Document espoused by 25% of American bishops (a distinct minority) was quintessentially un-American. That's one reason why it didn't reach people (and made some people it reached react negatively.)

I hope they will have learned their lesson for future elections.

It all goes to re-prove something to me. Something that knows no bounds of an affiliation of any sort.

That is that the human condition prevents people from either listening to or putting into practice spiritual guidance over their own appetites.

UNTIL they live the pain of their ignorance and selfism themselves.

God has a way of leading anyone who rejects or neglects what He says into their lives to make it a real part of it to bring them to repentance. Barrack has daughters and his people will suffer more from Sanger's eugenics movement than anyone else.

Brothers and sisters, don't let it shake you, get out there, learn to be an advocate and even a sidewalk counselor if thats what it takes and most importantly never fail to continue to love your neighbor, feed the hungry, clothe the naked and give the thirsty to drink even if they have made themselves marginalized.

This state I am in legalized EMBRYONIC destruction and medical dope. :(

John was "P"roud and though Barrack "appears" more in the dark spiritually he wasn't as "P"roud or came off as angry and the people saw that. Both have some good ideas that will benefit us all in one way or another. A defeat to the more honorable and moral man can still mean a reward to the people in other social ways and John will still be a honorable force to be reckoned with in WA. His record is consistent, but folks didn't appreciate that. The result is what it is.

Let us pray for national security, that this trainee Dem POTUS doesn't make the nation a laughing stalk (or worse) in the view of the world again and continue the vigilance to protect the dignity and sanctity of life by our reparations and in any other way possible just as the Church inspires us to do.

I predict a scandal by the end of the term.

Why would the church need to "evaluate its message" simply because Obama won? The protestant church is down the hall if that is your desire.
