  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

perhaps it is not.
It's simply hard for me to take this kind of stuff seriously, considering the many slimes aimed at Obama we've had to read here. It has nothing to do with you.

If that's the way you view children, I doubt if I can change your mind

Rome didn't fall in this century so providing a source from this century isn't necessary

And while trading with us, they've never talked about going to war with us, right?

That's what we know about, and remember, we're talking about future threats

Just so we're clear, until weapons systems are tested and refined, they are all unproven

So he's not going to spend money we can't afford on gadgets that don't work against enemies we no longer have? Say it ain't so, Shoeless Joe!
Not to mention the Chinese
There's noting confusing about it. He's willing to slow down weapons development. Gee, I wonder if other countries will do that as well
Bigger governemt. Yippee

Define necessary in regards to military spending

So he wants to ban nuclear power plants. I wonder how he's going to power our nuclear aircraft carriers and subs

Besides the fact that our ICBMs are not aon a hair trigger alert, Russian didn't seem to abide by those agreements the last time we tried them

You are funny

Here is one of our enemies we supposedly no longer have.....

http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20080305/ts_nm/usa_russia_navy_dc

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A Russian bomber aircraft approached a U.S. aircraft carrier off the Korean coast on Wednesday and was intercepted by American fighter jets -- the second such incident in less than a month, U.S. defense officials said.

Russia has also recently reinstated their cold war policy of preemptive nuclear strikes against enemies of theirs and their allies.

Iran is allied with Russia...hmmmm

well, you've got nothing to worry about. with our two party system, a liberal will win the nomination no matter who comes out on top. which liberal will bring this country to hell quickest? it doesn't matter at this point as we've lost our country anyway. both parties have sold us out.

$5500/week. I guess that black empowerment program at Obama's church is working

His election helped too I've read. Hospital almost tripled her salary when he got in office. Anyone know exactly what she does to earn that much money? I don't think nurses make what she does.

But back to serious issue: fresh fruit.

Wonder if Michelle Obama knows of the various "fruit of the month" clubs. For what she makes in one day, she could sign up for several of them and have fresh fruit for her child every week.

(for those who missed it, in the New Yorker this month, Michelle Obama complained, "You know . . . in my household, over the last year we have just shifted to organic . . . Now we’re keeping, like, a bowl of fresh fruit in the house. But you have to go to the fruit stand a couple of times a week to keep that fruit fresh enough that a six-year-old—she’s not gonna eat the pruney grape, you know. At that point it’s, like, ‘Eww!’ She’s not gonna eat the brown banana or the shrivelledy-up things. It’s got to be fresh for them to want it. Who’s got time to go to the fruit stand? Who can afford it, first of all?” )

Let's face it Voegelin. Michelle Obama may make $5500/week, but her husband is the only candidate offering us change. In my tax bracket, I'm expecting about 27 cents

If so maybe you should vote independent??

Obama gets tough after Clinton comeback

WASHINGTON (AFP) - Barack Obama Wednesday turned to hardball tactics after Hillary Clinton's comeback wins staved off extinction for her Democratic White House bid, as President George W. Bush embraced Republican candidate John McCain.

Obama aides vowed to fight fire with fire, after Clinton's withering scrutiny of his integrity and national security mettle helped her break his 12-contest win streak in three of Tuesday's four nominating showdowns.

Axelrod also accused the former first lady's camp of initiating a "search and destroy" mission against Obama, over a hard-hitting ad campaign questioning his capacity to handle a late-night foreign policy crisis as president.

Earlier, as weary Democratic strategists geared up for the reality that the most expensive nominating battle in history will likely stretch into June, and even into August's convention, the Clinton camp fired the first shot.
In a memo sketching Clinton's "path to the presidency" her camp warned, "The vetting of Obama has just begun."
If the race ended soon, with the Illinois senator as nominee, he would be a "lightning rod of controversy," while Clinton had withstood 15 years of media and Republican scrutiny, the memo argued.
Only days ago, pundits had predicted the former first lady was heading into oblivion after Obama surged to 11 straight wins in the fight to be the Democratic Party's 2008 presidential nominee.
But in a stunning change of mood, in a blitz of Wednesday media appearances, she was fielding questions about whether putting both Democratic rivals on a united party ticket was the only way out of the struggle.
<A rel=nofollow name=""><A rel=nofollow><A title=windowsMedia-low rel=nofollow><A title=windowsMedia-high rel=nofollow><A title=realMedia-low rel=nofollow><A title=realMedia-high rel=nofollow><A title=quickTime-low rel=nofollow><A title=quickTime-high rel=nofollow>Clinton did not rule out the possibility, telling CBS television: "That may be where this is headed. But of course we have to decide who is on the top of the ticket."
Obama said such talk was premature, arguing that despite Clinton's wins in Ohio, Texas and Rhode Island to his sole triumph in Vermont, he was still the virtual front-runner.

Most of America doesn't want the sort of country you desire. Fringe groups don't get to decide the direction the nation goes.

In election 2008, don’t forget Angry White Man

There is a great amount of interest in this year’s presidential elections, as everybody seems to recognize that our next president has to be a lot better than George Bush. The Democrats are riding high with two groundbreaking candidates — a woman and an African-American — while the conservative Republicans are in a quandary about their party’s nod to a quasi-liberal maverick, John McCain.

Each candidate is carefully pandering to a smorgasbord of special-interest groups, ranging from gay, lesbian and transgender people to children of illegal immigrants to working mothers to evangelical Christians.

There is one group no one has recognized, and it is the group that will decide the election: the Angry White Man. The Angry White Man comes from all economic backgrounds, from dirt-poor to filthy rich. He represents all geographic areas in America, from urban sophisticate to rural redneck, deep South to mountain West, left Coast to Eastern Seaboard.

His common traits are that he isn’t looking for anything from anyone — just the promise to be able to make his own way on a level playing field. In many cases, he is an independent businessman and employs several people. He pays more than his share of taxes and works hard.

The victimhood syndrome buzzwords — “disenfranchised,” “marginalized” and “voiceless” — don’t resonate with him. “Press ‘one’ for English” is a curse-word to him. He’s used to picking up the tab, whether it’s the company Christmas party, three sets of braces, three college educations or a beautiful wedding.

He believes the Constitution is to be interpreted literally, not as a “living document” open to the whims and vagaries of a panel of judges who have never worked an honest day in their lives.

The Angry White Man owns firearms, and he’s willing to pick up a gun to defend his home and his country. He is willing to lay down his life to defend the freedom and safety of others, and the thought of killing someone who needs killing really doesn’t bother him.

The Angry White Man is not a metrosexual, a homosexual or a victim. Nobody like him drowned in Hurricane Katrina — he got his people together and got the hell out, then went back in to rescue those too helpless and stupid to help themselves, often as a police officer, a National Guard soldier or a volunteer firefighter.

His last name and religion don’t matter. His background might be Italian, English, Polish, German, Slavic, Irish, or Russian, and he might have Cherokee, Mexican, or Puerto Rican mixed in, but he considers himself a white American.

He’s a man’s man, the kind of guy who likes to play poker, watch football, hunt white-tailed deer, call turkeys, play golf, spend a few bucks at a strip club once in a blue moon, change his own oil and build things. He coaches baseball, soccer and football teams and doesn’t ask for a penny. He’s the kind of guy who can put an addition on his house with a couple of friends, drill an oil well, weld a new bumper for his truck, design a factory and publish books. He can fill a train with 100,000 tons of coal and get it to the power plant on time so that you keep the lights on and never know what it took to flip that light switch.

Women either love him or hate him, but they know he’s a man, not a dishrag. If they’re looking for someone to walk all over, they’ve got the wrong guy. He stands up straight, opens doors for women and says “Yes, sir” and “No, ma’am.”

He might be a Republican and he might be a Democrat; he might be a Libertarian or a Green. He knows that his wife is more emotional than rational, and he guides the family in a rational manner.

He’s not a racist, but he is annoyed and disappointed when people of certain backgrounds exhibit behavior that typifies the worst stereotypes of their race. He’s willing to give everybody a fair chance if they work hard, play by the rules and learn English.

Most important, the Angry White Man is [wash my mouth][wash my mouth][wash my mouth][wash my mouth]ed off. When his job site becomes flooded with illegal workers who don’t pay taxes and his wages drop like a stone, he gets righteously angry. When his job gets shipped overseas, and he has to speak to some incomprehensible idiot in India for tech support, he simmers. When Al Sharpton comes on TV, leading some rally for reparations for slavery or some such nonsense, he bites his tongue and he remembers. When a child gets charged with carrying a concealed weapon for mistakenly bringing a penknife to school, he takes note of who the local idiots are in education and law enforcement.

He also votes, and the Angry White Man loathes Hillary Clinton. Her voice reminds him of a shovel scraping a rock. He recoils at the mere sight of her on television. Her very image disgusts him, and he cannot fathom why anyone would want her as their leader. It’s not that she is a woman. It’s that she is who she is. It’s the liberal victim groups she panders to, the “poor me” attitude that she represents, her inability to give a straight answer to an honest question, his tax dollars that she wants to give to people who refuse to do anything for themselves.

There are many millions of Angry White Men. Four million Angry White Men are members of the National Rifle Association, and all of them will vote against Hillary Clinton, just as the great majority of them voted for George Bush.

He hopes that she will be the Democratic nominee for president in 2008, and he will make sure that she gets beaten like a drum.

Thank you very much. It's great to be here.

You know, the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over again and expecting a different result. We are going to do things differently and expect a different result. And if we don't do things differently, well, the results we get, well, they'll be the results we deserve. Thank you.

We deserve better results, and that, ladies and gentlemen, is why I'm running for the presidency of the United States of America. If you want the same results done in a different way, then you're going to get the same results, only achieved differently.

If, however, you want different results with a different way, but not done the same way, without the same results, but with new results in a new way, while ensuring the new results are much more new than the old results we've had the old way, then I'm sure you'll agree with me that we, ladies and gentlemen, must work toward a different way, to achieve results in a different way than the way we used to achieve the results differently. Thank you.

Change is never easy. Change is hard. Some change is harder than others. And easy change is never as easy as hard change, if only because hard change is hard.

Changing the easy to the hard is harder than changing the hard to the easy.

But if, ladies and gentlemen, you are looking for easy change done the hard way, then that hard change will not be easy, if only because change is hard, and harder change is much harder when it is hard than when it is easy. This is especially the case if you use the same way of changing results that ultimately result in change done the hard way. And that is why I am proposing hard change with a different approach that could ensure a different change than we've had in the past with the same approach only with different results with easy change than the hard change that we've had when change was, in fact, easy. Thank you very much.

We must have hope. Hope is what we must have. If you have no hope, then you are without it more than you would be if, indeed, you had hope. Without hope, there is only hopelessness. If you have hopelessness, then those without hope will never have hope because those who have it, do, and those who don't, don't.

And that is why I intend to hope that we may have more hope, so that those without hope can get it from those who do have hope. So the hopeful must share the hope with the hopeless to reduce the hopeless while uplifting the hopeful. And I certainly hope that we can all agree that hope alone without hoping for those without hope is, in fact, a recipe for further hopelessness. Thank you.

I ask you not to take a chance on me, but to take a chance on your own aspirations. And aspirations are nothing without inspiration. And with inspiration comes perspiration. So I ask you to aspire to perspire so that you may inspire. And with your inspiration, coupled with the aspirations of those who perspire, that perspiration will create further inspiration to which all of us can aspire. And those who inspire the most will perspire the most, only because their aspirations create the greatest inspirations. And it is a false choice to think you can have inspiration without perspiration.

So, if you can't stand the heat in the kitchen, better get yourself out, unless you're popping popcorn! Until you see the whites of their eyes, then, by god, don't you fire! I have but one life to give to my country, but I sure do regret it! We have nothing to fear, but fear itself, especially when fear fears us back! Ask not what you can do for your country, but what your country can do for you! Sí, se puede! Pass the guacamole. Hold the pickles, hold the lettuce, special orders do not upset us. Boo-ya!

So to sum up, in conclusion, per se, so to speak, if you will, on the one hand, if not on the other, let me say this: Don't do drugs!

Thank you, and may God bless you, and may God bless America!
