ALL the insurance companties say is that they will not PAY for it not that you may not get the treatment. I am not seeing anyone, but suppose I was in a serious relationship. Suppose the man proposed to me and that we were planning a wedding that is 1000s of dollars. Say my mother told me I will only pay 2k towards your wedding. Now, I am a grown woman in my mid 20s. Is she telling me I could NOT have a fancy wedding no all she is saying is that she will only put 2k towards its cost. If an insurance company says they will not cover you they are not telling an adult that he or she may not seek whatever treatment he or she darn well wants to, but that they will not pay for certain treatments.

Yeah, let's compare health care with extravagant parties. That doesn't trivialize the importance of health care in any way.

America's health care system does have a lot of problems. I'm not a fan of our system overall. Obamacare did not fix many problems. I have doubts a new system will be much of an improvement. Time will tell though.

It is outside of our government health program in that I did recently join a Christian Health Sharing plan program. It works similar insurance but it a little different. Costs are more reasonable, pre-existing conditions do not result in rejection, no questions asked about sexual preferences, it is exempt from the ACA penalty. The main requirement asked before joining is that a person live a Christian life, avoid recreational drugs, avoid tobacco, limit alcohol, etc.

I don't know if nation wide a Christian Health sharing program is the answer for our nation's health care issues. The plans seem to work well. At least I've been pleased.

There are other groups offering health sharing plans, but this is the Christian group I recently joined ~

The Affordable Care Act is in deep trouble and may be repealed by the new Republican dominated Congress. The reason for the "deep trouble" seems to lie directly with the old Republican Congress.

Of course it will. Not a single Republican voted for this mess.

Common sense reforms will replace the leftist scramble currently being shoved down our throats.

but do you see the comparsion being made? They are NOT telling you you cannot get treatment only that they will not PAY for it.

I thought your point was that individuals decide to ration health care, but now you're saying that others impose than rationing on individuals? I'm not sure what you're trying to show.

Thee insurance company can say we will not cover a treatment or we will only put so much towards a particular treatment. This does mean that I cannot get the treatment ( if a doctor is willing to provide it), but I will need to come up with the money to get the treatment since the insurance will not pay.

The reason behind the rhetoric is just to claim that the Unaffordable Care Act is a Republican idea, conveniently forgetting that Hilliary Care was dreamt up before RomneyCare...

Unless your point is that healthcare in the US is rationed by your economic level I fail to see what you are driving at.

Are you claiming that the ACA was based on Hillary care?

Just to clarify, you believe that what Hillary is claiming with this quote is that Obamacare was modeled on Hillarycare?

It doesn't make any difference what I believe she seems to think both versions of HilliaryCare is the basis for the (Un)ACA and that's all that matters to her supporters. BTA if you want to make the case that's she's lying again well then go for it I could use a good laugh... ^_^

No, I believe that you are mistaken in the gist of what she was saying. I believe the point she was trying to convey was that she was the first person to attempt to change US health care. Not that her plan was the model the ACA was built on.

I think this ideological, single-minded crusade to repeal the ACA is cruel and unchristian. These Republicans are so blinded by their ideology that they don't seem to care about the millions of people - many of them people who voted Republican in the last election - they're going to hurt.

It's shameful.

I did not have health insurance before the ACA, and if the Republicans have their way, I'll lose the coverage I currently have. So care to elaborate?

it wasn't meant in any particular way.
simply that all those people have basically just voted themselves out of health insurance because they were led to believe the twitter in chief and the republicans have their best interests at heart.

Well, it depends we DO have some of the best care IF you can afford it. Why else would people COME here for treatment which cost money anyway just to travel even BEFORE you get treatment.

That's a gross misrepresentation of reality.
When people go to the US explicitly to get some kind of treatment, it is always for a very specific treatment for rather rare situations. And they don't go just anywhere... they go there to a very specific specialist who can do a certain thing, or has knowledge/expertise/equipment, that other specialists don't (either in or outside the US).

This is also not exclusive to the US. You can find such specialised expertise all over the world. It all depends on the specific treatment that you require and where you can get that specific treatment.

Nobody goes to the US for more day-to-day things like fractures or more common deseases and stuff that require rather routine surgeries or treatments.

The statistical fact is that overall, health care in the US is NOT better then in the rest of the western world and in a lot of cases is actually just worse when you consider everything from costs to waiting times to actual quality of treatment.
