Meanwhile many urban D's have been giving back various powers to police that were curtailed post George Floyd. This is a mixed bag of course, because its not certain that police culture has matured enough to responsibly handle these powers.

Here in Baltimore, a Dem stronghold where the primary is, essentially, the election, the only people put forward by Republicans are clowns. The most recent one who gained any publicity was Kim Klacik, a former stripper pushed by right-wing media, who got trounced and copped to having been sort-of-scammed by expensive Republican consultants who gobbled up all of her campaign funds.

The last not-crazy one I can remember was a guy running for mayor maybe 7-8 years ago who was a retired local news anchor. He wasn't remotely qualified, but he struck me as not an unreasonable person.

Funnily enough Oakland is a modern ghost town where the sizable infrastructure is no longer supported by the industry that was outsourced to overseas. This coupled with decades of police corruption, administrative corruption, homelessness due to the outsourced job and of course the perennial American problems with guns and drugs means it's going to be yet another American Hell Hole.

Yes, I live in a Democratic stronghold area. There was a Republican elected to our Congressional district back in the 1940s, that was the last time and I don't know the circumstances of how that happened. Good luck to the independents and other political parties. My home town in this district has been working hard on the subjects of reparations and paying off medical bills of those who have fallen into debt. Right across the river that city passed a resolution for a cease fire in Gaza.

Crime statistics in certain areas have far more contributing factors than only the "political leanings" of those who wield control. So all conversations around policy, should be couched with that understanding.

Homelessness has always been an issue ... however with allowing the influx of mass migration into our country by the current administration our system has become severely overwhelmed all at once and therefore destabilizing our entire country in many many ways ... creating extreme chaos. Yes, the policies have failed.
