  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

where did you move to? :)

I'm aiming at making the move around 2/28 - getting a moving company to pack and move me, I hope.

Have started my job search - while told there are not many jobs in the area, my profession, nursing, is supposedly in shortage... so finding a job I can do should not take too long, G-d willing!

I'm sure there are plenty of openings in the Triangle area!

slight hitch in job search - can't take any job that requires any lifting - was paralyzed 18 years ago and, while G-d got me back on my feet when doctors said impossible (Blessed be His Name) my back is very "fragile" and I am nearly incapacitated by lifting suitcases and driving up there last week - I need a doctor's office or school nurse position - contacted a doctor office in Boone yesterday... trying to network and get more contacts.... "the search begins"

Hey, any of y'all live around Asheville, NC or Cherokee? Ever been to Mount Mitchell State Park? Is there anything special to see around Asheville this time of the year or is it too cold to get out? I've been to Mt. Mitchell State Park but I read that they are going to build a new tower there, though. I love the mountains. I've been to Cherokee, NC too but read that some of the mountain roads are closed for the winter. How is life in the mountains in NC?

What's horrible about Fayetteville? I would certainly rather live in Wilmington or Asheville any day, but Fayetteville doesn't strike me as too bad--you're right in between the two.
I've never really been there but have heard it called "Fayette-nam" by some people I work with that go there a lot. ^_^

Fayetteville is HORRIBLE. I moved there from San Antonio, TX when I was little and had a complete culture shock. Everything was pawn shops and gun stores. There obviously was no city planning, because it is easy to find stores (pawn shops) beside someone's home. Can we say ZONING? And it also didn't help that there were fights every day after school. Probably because the high school students rode the bus with the middle school students. First time, I saw a classmate pregnant...mind you I was in 7th grade. First time I knew about guns being brought to school. First time that several people died in our school from shootings, etc. HORRIBLE PLACE!

Good gracious! There are soooo many posts in these threads! I don't know if I have time to read 'em all. lol Anyway, I'm a fellow North Carolinian, New Bern to be exact. The first capital of NC and the birthplace of Pepsi. ;) I used to drink Pepsi all the time until I got my hands on Sunkist. Anyone here live in New Bern, or have visited here before? It's a beautiful place. Lots of history and rich in tourism. Plus we have a fairly new convention center that houses so many activities throughout the year, so that help our little city out quite a bit.
As I was reading through the posts, I saw something about Cherokee and it brought back memories. My grandparents took my sister, brother and I up there when I was about 14 I think, and I've been wanting to go back ever since then. Now that is a beautiful area. If I actually get to go back, that's a different story. lol

I loved New Bern. We lived in Havelock when my dh was stationed at Cherry Point, so we had to go to New Bern to shop. Nicholas Sparks also lives there, so another claim to fame for y'all. I miss North Carolina so much. We just left in June, and I had no idea how much I had come to love it until we had to leave it. Craven County is great! Oh, how I miss the green.

Ok, I cheated and skipped from the first to last page but I was too excited about finding an NC thread. I live on Badin Lake on the weekends and go to Wake Forest during the week ( I Know the B-Ball team is struggling). Praise God for the Old North State!!!!!!!!!

*Shameless plug for my church* If anyone is around the Montgomery Co. area and want to hear some great preaching stop by Chandlers Grove UMC!:)
